Journal ArticleDOI
Compliance of the respiratory system and its components in health and obesity.
A. Naimark,Reuben M. Cherniack +1 more
TL;DR: The compliance of the total respiratory system and its components was studied in normal and obese spontaneously breathing unanesthetized subjects and found that the former are more compliant than the latter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gas exchange at a given degree of volume restriction is different in sarcoidosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
Thaddeus L. Dunn,Thaddeus L. Dunn,Leslie C. Watters,Leslie C. Watters,Clarence Hendrix,Reuben M. Cherniack,Reuben M. Cherniack,Marvin I. Schwarz,Marvin I. Schwarz,Talmadge E.K Ing,Talmadge E.K Ing +10 more
TL;DR: The preservation of gas exchange in sarcoidosis as opposed to IPF, despite equivalent degrees of volume restriction, suggests that different pathophysiologic mechanism underlie the volume loss and gas exchange defects seen in these disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of a new carbonic anhydrase inhibitor (dichlorphenamide) in respiratory insufficiency.
TL;DR: In most cases marked improvement in arterial blood gas tension was associated with an increased alveolar ventilation, and this improvement has been sustained during prolonged administration of the drug.
