Energy separation in the wake of a cylinder: Effect of Reynolds number and acoustic resonance

TL;DR: In this article, the energy separation mechanism in the vortex field behind an adiabatic circular cylinder in a cross flow of air is investigated, and the measured recovery temperature, expressed as distribution of energy separation factor indicates that energy separation is caused by the vortex flow in the wake, enhanced by acoustic excitation, and is insensitive to Reynolds number in the sub critical range studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energy separation and acoustic interaction in flow across a circular cylinder

TL;DR: In this article, energy separation in a flow around an adiabatic circular cylinder is investigated using a surface-mounted thermocouple, energy separation mechanisms in different regions around the cylinder are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of boundary conditions on mass transfer near the base of a cylinder in crossflow

TL;DR: In this paper, a portion of the endwall and the test cylinder placed normal to it are coated with naphthalene and local mass transfer measurements are conducted on both surfaces and the results are compared to earlier data by Karni and Goldstein.
