Understanding the role of tumor stem cells in glioblastoma multiforme: a review article
Aalya Fatoo,Michael J. Nanaszko,Baxter B. Allen,Christina L. Mok,Elena N. Bukanova,Robel Beyene,Jennifer Moliterno,Jennifer Moliterno,John A. Boockvar +8 more
TL;DR: The most recent information regarding CSCs, their molecular biology and their potential role in GBM is discussed.
Journal Article
EGFR signaling is differentially activated in patient-derived glioblastoma stem cells.
Brian M. Howard,Demirkan B. Gursel,Anne Marie Bleau,Robel Beyene,Eric C. Holland,John A. Boockvar +5 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that EGFR+/PTEN+ GSCs are susceptible to anti-EGFR therapy in vitro, and inhibition of EGFR signaling by AG1478 increased GSC senescence and apoptosis, likely via inhibition of AKT and activation of GSK3beta.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimization of glioblastoma multiforme stem cell isolation, transfection, and transduction
Demirkan B. Gursel,Robel Beyene,Christoph P. Hofstetter,Jeffry P. Greenfield,Mark M. Souweidane,Michael G. Kaplitt,Margarita Arango-Lievano,Brian M. Howard,John A. Boockvar +8 more
TL;DR: This study is a guide to optimize the generation of patient derived GBM tumor spheres without RBC and dead cell contamination and can easily be transfected with plasmids or transduced with a virus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Disease-specific induced pluripotent stem cells.
Robel Beyene,John A. Boockvar +1 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute pain consult and management is associated with improved mortality in rib fracture patients
K. Sborov,Bradley M. Dennis,Getúlio Rodrigues de Oliveira Filho,Seth A Bellister,Nicholas Statzer,David P. Stonko,Richard A. Guyer,Jonathan P. Wanderer,Robel Beyene,Matthew D. McEvoy,Brian F.S. Allen +10 more
TL;DR: An APS consult in rib fracture patients is associated with decreased mortality and no difference in pulmonary complications yet increased ICU and hospital LOS as well as increased intensive care unit (ICU) LOS.
