Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular efflux of auxin catalyzed by the Arabidopsis MDR/PGP transporter AtPGP1.
Markus Geisler,Joshua J. Blakeslee,Rodolphe Bouchard,Ok Ran Lee,Vincent Vincenzetti,Anindita Bandyopadhyay,Boosaree Titapiwatanakun,Wendy Ann Peer,Aurélien Bailly,Elizabeth L. Richards,Karin F.K. Ejendal,Aaron P. Smith,Célia Baroux,Ueli Grossniklaus,Axel Müller,Christine A. Hrycyna,Robert Dudler,Angus S. Murphy,Enrico Martinoia +18 more
TL;DR: Unlike what is seen in planta, some additional transport of the benzoic acid is observed in yeast and mammalian cells expressing AtPGP1, suggesting that other factors present in plant tissues confer enhanced auxin specificity to PGP-mediated transport.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome analysis at different ploidy levels allows cloning of the powdery mildew resistance gene Pm3b from hexaploid wheat.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the combined analysis of genomes from wheat species with different ploidy levels can be exploited for positional cloning in bread wheat and that the candidate gene, a member of the coiled-coil nucleotide binding site leucine-rich repeat (NBS-LRR) type of disease resistance genes, is the Pm3b gene.
Journal ArticleDOI
A plant pathogen virulence factor inhibits the eukaryotic proteasome by a novel mechanism
Michael Groll,Barbara Schellenberg,André S. Bachmann,Crystal R. Archer,Robert Huber,Tracy K. Powell,Steven E. Lindow,Markus Kaiser,Robert Dudler +8 more
TL;DR: SylA defines a new class of proteasome inhibitors that includes glidobactin A (GlbA), a structurally related compound from an unknown species of the order Burkholderiales, for which it is shown that SylA irreversibly inhibits all three catalytic activities of eukaryotic proteasomes, thus adding prote asome inhibition to the repertoire of modes of action of virulence factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential Induction of Distinct Glutathione-S-Transferases of Wheat by Xenobiotics and by Pathogen Attack
Felix Mauch,Robert Dudler +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a pathogen-induced gene from wheat (Triticum aestivum L) was characterized based on sequence similarities with glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs) of maize.
Journal ArticleDOI
TWISTED DWARF1, a unique plasma membrane-anchored immunophilin-like protein, interacts with Arabidopsis multidrug resistance-like transporters AtPGP1 and AtPGP19
Markus Geisler,H. Üner Kolukisaoglu,Rodolphe Bouchard,Karla Billion,Joachim Berger,Beate Saal,Nathalie Frangne,Zsuzsanna Koncz-Kalman,Csaba Koncz,Robert Dudler,Joshua J. Blakeslee,Angus S. Murphy,Enrico Martinoia,Burkhard Schulz +13 more
TL;DR: Mapping of protein interaction domains shows that AtPGP1 surprisingly binds to the N-terminus of TWD1 harboring the cis-trans peptidyl-prolyl isomerase-like domain and not to the tetratrico-peptide repeat domain, which has been shown to mediate protein-protein interaction.
