Lack of Neointimal Proliferation After Implantation of Sirolimus-Coated Stents in Human Coronary Arteries: A Quantitative Coronary Angiography and Three-Dimensional Intravascular Ultrasound Study
J. Eduardo Sousa,Marco A. Costa,Alexandre Abizaid,Andrea Abizaid,Fausto Feres,Ibraim Francisco Pinto,Ana C. Seixas,Rodolfo Staico,Luiz Alberto Mattos,Amanda G. M. R. Sousa,Robert Falotico,Judith Jaeger,Jeffrey J. Popma,Patrick W. Serruys +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the safety and efficacy of sirolimus-coated BX Velocity stents were evaluated in 30 patients with angina pectoris electively treated with two different formulations of SIROlimuscoated stents (slow release and fast release).
Journal ArticleDOI
Three vs Twelve Months of Dual Antiplatelet Therapy After Zotarolimus-Eluting Stents: The OPTIMIZE Randomized Trial
Fausto Feres,Ricardo A. Costa,Alexandre Abizaid,Martin B. Leon,J. Antonio Marin-Neto,Roberto Botelho,Spencer B. King,Manuela Negoita,Minglei Liu,J. Eduardo T. de Paula,José A. Mangione,George César Ximenes Meireles,Hélio José Castello,Eduardo L. Nicolela,Marco Antonio Perin,Fernando Devito,Andre Labrunie,Décio Salvadori,Marcos Gusmão,Rodolfo Staico,J. Ribamar Costa,Juliana P. Castro,Andrea Abizaid,Deepak L. Bhatt +23 more
TL;DR: In patients with stable coronary artery disease or low-risk ACS treated with zotarolimus-eluting stents, 3 months of dual antiplatelet therapy was noninferior to 12 months for NACCE, without significantly increasing the risk of stent thrombosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Late incomplete apposition after drug-eluting stent implantation: incidence and potential for adverse clinical outcomes
Dimytri Siqueira,Alexandre Abizaid,Jose de Ribamar Costa,Fausto Feres,Luiz Alberto Mattos,Rodolfo Staico,A. Abizaid,Luiz Fernando Tanajura,Áurea J. Chaves,Marinella Centemero,Amanda G. M. R. Sousa,J. Eduardo Sousa +11 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the incidence and long-term clinical consequences of late ISA after implantation of sirolimus- (SES) or paclitaxel-eluting stent (PES) in a non-selected population found it related to regional vessel positive remodelling.
Journal ArticleDOI
First human experience with the 17-beta-estradiol-eluting stent: the Estrogen And Stents To Eliminate Restenosis (EASTER) trial.
Alexandre Abizaid,Mariano Albertal,Marco A. Costa,Andrea Abizaid,Rodolfo Staico,Fausto Feres,Luiz Alberto Mattos,Amanda G. M. R. Sousa,Jeffrey W. Moses,Nicholas Kipshidize,Gary S. Roubin,Roxana Mehran,Gishel New,Martin B. Leon,J. Eduardo Sousa +14 more
TL;DR: Implantation of 17-beta-estradiol-eluted BiodVysio stents appears feasible and safe, showing low rates of binary restenosis and revascularization, and warrant further confirmation with a large, randomized multicenter trial.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intracoronary Ultrasound Assessment Late After the Arterial Switch Operation for Transposition of the Great Arteries
Simone F. Pedra,Carlos A. C. Pedra,Alexandre Abizaid,Sérgio L. N. Braga,Rodolfo Staico,Raul S. Arrieta,J. Ribamar Costa,Vinicius Daher Vaz,Valmir F. Fontes,J. Eduardo Sousa +9 more
TL;DR: Intravascular ultrasound assessment late after the ASO revealed proximal eccentric intimal thickening in most of the studied vessels, which suggests the development of early atherosclerosis in the reimplanted coronary arteries, which may have a role in the genesis of late coronary events.
