Journal ArticleDOI

Incorporating small molecules or biologics into nanofibers for optimized drug release: A review.

TL;DR: The authors' intent is to provide a comprehensive overview of the key parameters of advanced drug delivery systems of this type, including the solubility of the polymer, the fiber diameter and the fiber structure, which are the primary parameters affecting drug release.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application of sucrose fatty acid esters in transdermal therapeutic systems.

TL;DR: In vitro studies indicated that SEs of shorter fatty acid chain length and higher HLB value increased the amount of released drug about 10 times and could be promising agents in transdermal therapeutic systems to control the drug release and cutaneous absorption.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of water on the solid state characteristics of pharmaceutical excipients: Molecular mechanisms, measurement techniques, and quality aspects of final dosage form

TL;DR: Water sorption measurements, differential scanning calorimetry and the Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy are reviewed and the importance of water content and storage conditions of pharmaceuticals on the properties of the final dosage forms are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polymer structure and antimicrobial activity of polyvinylpyrrolidone-based iodine nanofibers prepared with high-speed rotary spinning technique

TL;DR: The micro- and macrostructural characterisation of polymer fiber mats enabled the selection of the required composition from the point of their applicability as a wound dressing and revealed the changes of the free volume holes of fibers as a function of their composition and the presence of iodine.
