Role of Orlistat in the Treatment of Obese Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A 1-year randomized double-blind study
Priscilla Hollander,Steven C. Elbein,Irl B. Hirsch,David E. Kelley,Janet B. McGill,Terry Taylor,Stuart R Weiss,Samuel E Crockett,Roy Kaplan,John Comstock,Charles P. Lucas,Peter A Lodewick,William Canovatchel,Jain Chung,Jonathan Hauptman +14 more
TL;DR: Orlistat is an effective treatment modality in obese patients with type 2 diabetes with respect to clinically meaningful weight loss and maintenance of weight loss, improved glycemic control, and improved lipid profile.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improvement in glycemic excursions with a transcutaneous, real-time continuous glucose sensor: a randomized controlled trial.
Satish K. Garg,Howard Zisser,Sherwyn Schwartz,Timothy L. Bailey,Roy Kaplan,Samuel L. Ellis,Lois Jovanovic +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that availability of real-time, continuously measured glucose levels can significantly improve glycemic excursions by reducing exposure to hyperglycemia without increasing the risk of hypoglycemia, which may reduce long-term diabetes complications and their associated economic costs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved Quality of Glycemic Control and Reduced Glycemic Variability with Use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring
TL;DR: Continuous access to display of CGM sensors dramatically improved 29 indices of glycemic control and glycemic variability, including percentage within, percentage above, and percentage below target range, mean glucose, SD, SD of daily means, MODD, M(100), IGC, GRADE, HBGI, and J index.

Genetic subtypes of prediabetes, healthy lifestyle, and risk of type 2 diabetes: Prospective cohort study
Y. Li,G.‐C. Chen,Jee-Young Moon,Rebecca Arthur,Daniela Sotres-Alvarez,M.L. Daviglus,Amber Pirzada,Josiemer Mattei,Jerome I. Rotter,Kent D. Taylor,Y.-D. Chen,Krista M. Perreira,Sylvia Smoller,TY Wang,James C. Kaufman,Roy Kaplan,Qin Qi +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors cluster participants with prediabetes with five type 2 diabetes related partitioned polygenetic risk scores (pPRSs) and examine the risk of incident diabetes and the benefit of adherence to healthy lifestyle across clusters.
