Journal ArticleDOI

Degradation of antibiotics by advanced oxidation processes: An overview.

TL;DR: In this review paper, a variety of AOPs, such as Fenton or Fenton-like reaction, oz onation or catalytic ozonation, photocatalytic oxidation, electrochemical oxidation, and ionizing radiation were briefly introduced, including their principles, characteristics, main influencing factors and applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

The occurrence, distribution and degradation of antibiotics by ionizing radiation: An overview.

TL;DR: In this review, the occurrence and distribution of antibiotics in aquatic environments, including surface water, wastewater and effluent of wastewater treatment plants, were analyzed and summarized, and ionizing radiation may be a promising technology for removal of antibiotics from water and wastewater.
Journal ArticleDOI

Degradation of sulfamethoxazole by ionizing radiation: Kinetics and implications of additives.

TL;DR: The experimental results revealed that ionizing radiation is a promising technology to degrade SMX in aqueous solution as well as in wastewater, and various influencing factors were explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Degradation of macrolide antibiotic erythromycin and reduction of antimicrobial activity using persulfate activated by gamma radiation in different water matrices

TL;DR: In this article, the degradation of macrolide antibiotic erythromycin (ERY) and reduction of antimicrobial activity was performed using persulfate activated by gamma radiation in different water matrices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of degradation characteristic and mineralization efficiency of norfloxacin by ionizing radiation combined with Fenton-like oxidation.

TL;DR: The addition of Fenton-like catalysts, such as magnetite and goethite, could improve the mineralization ratio of norfloxacin because they could decompose hydrogen peroxide generated during the radiation process, to form hydroxyl radicals, leading to the enhancement of removal efficiency of norFLoxac in this study.
