Beat-Wave Excitation of Plasma Wave and Observation of Accelerated Electrons
Y. Kitagawa,T. Matsumoto,T. Minamihata,K. Sawai,Kazuki Matsuo,K. Mima,Katsunobu Nishihara,Hiroshi Azechi,Kazuo Tanaka,Hideaki Takabe,S. Nakai +10 more
TL;DR: The simultaneous observations of a beat-wave-excited plasma wave and of energetic electrons are reported, both of which are observed at the resonant density.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scalings of implosion experiments for high neutron yield
Hideaki Takabe,Masanobu Yamanaka,K. Mima,Chihiro Yamanaka,Hiroshi Azechi,N. Miyanaga,Masahiro Nakatsuka,Takahisa Jitsuno,Takayoshi Norimatsu,Masahiro Takagi,Hiroaki Nishimura,M. Nakai,Takashi Yabe,T. Sasaki,K. Yoshida,Katsunobu Nishihara,Yoshiaki Kato,Yasukazu Izawa,T. Yamanaka,S. Nakai +19 more
TL;DR: A series of experiments focused on high neutron yield has been performed with the Gekko-XII green laser system [Nucl. Fusion 27, 19 (1987)]. Deuterium-tritium (DT) neutron yield of 1013 and pellet gain of 0.2% have been achieved as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Generation of a strong magnetic field by an intense CO 2 laser pulse
Hiroyuki Daido,F. Miki,K. Mima,Masayuki Fujita,K. Sawai,Hisanori Fujita,Y. Kitagawa,S. Nakai,Chihiro Yamanaka +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a strong magnetic field of 600 kG (60 T) is generated at the center of a 2mm-diam one-turn coil in which the current is driven by a ${\mathrm{CO}}_{2}$ laser.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-density compression experiments at ILE, Osaka
Hiroshi Azechi,Takahisa Jitsuno,Tadashi Kanabe,M. Katayama,Kunioki Mima,Noriaki Miyanaga,Mitsuo Nakai,S. Nakai,H. Nakaishi,Masahiro Nakatsuka,A. Nishiguchi,P. A. Norrays,Yuichi Setsuhara,Masaru Takagi,Masanobu Yamanaka,Chihiro Yamanaka +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, direct-drive implosion experiments on the GEKKO XII laser (9 kJ, 0.5 μm, 2 ns) with deuterium and tritium (DT) exchanged plastic hollow shell targets demonstrated fuel areal densities (ρR) of 0.1 g/cm2 and fuel densities of ˜600 times liquid density at fuel temperatures of −0.3 keV.
