HIV DNA and cognition in a Thai longitudinal HAART initiation cohort: the SEARCH 001 Cohort Study.
Victor Valcour,Bruce Shiramizu,Pasiri Sithinamsuwan,Samart Nidhinandana,Silvia Ratto-Kim,Jintanat Ananworanich,Umaporn Siangphoe,Jung-Hyun Kim,M. de Souza,Victor DeGruttola,Robert H. Paul,C. Shikuma +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that short-term incomplete cognitive recovery with HAART may represent an active process related to this peripheral reservoir, and baseline monocyte HIV DNA level correlates to cognitive performance before highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and 48 weeks after HAART.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exertional heatstroke: early recognition and outcome with aggressive combined cooling--a 12-year experience.
Pasiri Sithinamsuwan,Kunchit Piyavechviratana,Thitisak Kitthaweesin,Watcharapong Chusri,Patima Orrawanhanothai,Adisorn Wongsa,Anan Wattanathum,Yotin Chinvarun,Samart Nidhinandana,LT Bancha Satirapoj,Ouppatham Supasyndh,Chantrapa Sriswasdi,Wichai Prayoonwiwat +12 more
TL;DR: Despite early recognition and aggressive combined cooling, exertional heatstroke remains associated with multiorgan dysfunction, however, the 7.1% in-hospital mortality rate was low compared to previous studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of normative neuropsychological performance in Thailand for the assessment of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders.
Jodi M. Heaps,Victor Valcour,Thep Chalermchai,Robert H. Paul,Somprartthana Rattanamanee,Umaporn Siangphoe,Pasiri Sithinamsuwan,Parnsiri Chairangsaris,Samart Nidhinandana,Somporn Tipsuk,Duanghathai Suttichom,James L. K. Fletcher,Cecilia M. Shikuma,Jintanat Ananworanich +13 more
TL;DR: Cognitive performance in 477 seronegative Thai participants who completed a battery of tests sensitive to cognitive changes in HIV was examined and education was a more powerful predictor of performance in the Thai cohort than in the US group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuropsychological abnormalities in patients with dementia in CRF 01_AE HIV-1 infection.
Victor Valcour,Pasiri Sithinamsuwan,Samart Nidhinandana,Sataporn Thitivichianlert,Silvia Ratto-Kim,W. Apateerapong,Bruce Shiramizu,Mark S. deSouza,Suwicha Chitpatima,G. Watt,Thippawan Chuenchitra,Kevin Robertson,Robert H. Paul,Justin C. McArthur,J. H. Kim,C. Shikuma +15 more
TL;DR: Neuropsychological testing abnormalities were identified in most cognitive domains among HAD vs HIV-negative participants, confirming the presence of HAD in CRF01_AE.
Journal ArticleDOI

Siwaporn Chankrachang,Arkhom Arayawichanont,Niphon Poungvarin,Samart Nidhinandana,Pairoj Boonkongchuen,Somchai Towanabut,Pasiri Sithinamsuwan,Subsai Kongsaengdao +7 more
