Journal ArticleDOI

Cable shovel digging optimization for energy efficiency

TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal crowd arm and hoist rope speeds for given initial conditions, material properties and uncertain bulk densities were found to be 0.1795 and 0.2428 kJ-s/kg.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanics of Cable Shovel-Formation Interactions in Surface Mining Excavations

TL;DR: In this paper, an intelligent shovel excavation (ISE) technology with real-time formation identification, recording, and knowledge transmission capabilities is proposed to solve the variability of material diggability, resulting in varying mechanical energy input and stress loading.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dietary exposure to chlorinated pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables from Ghanaian markets

TL;DR: Estimation of dietary intake of pesticides from fruit and vegetables revealed that, pesticides detected in fruits and vegetables did not cause dietary intake risks, and the need for regular monitoring for pesticide residues of a greater number of samples for long periods, especially in fruit and vegetable, to protect consumers’ health is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Process Automation: Existing Knowledge Frontier and Way Forward for Mining Sector

TL;DR: This study was an attempt to review and analyze all the recent automation related work in every sector of the mining industry including mineral prospecting and exploration, mine planning, equipment selection, underground and surface equipment operation, drilling and blasting, mineral processing, etc., for establishing the existing frontiers of technological advancement.

A stochastic simulation framework for truck and shovel selection and sizing in open pit mines

TL;DR: In this article, a stochastic simulation framework for the selection and sizing of a truck-shovel system in open pit mines is presented. But the authors do not consider the impact of the size and geometry of the equipment on the performance of the system.
