Translational strategies exploiting TNF-alpha that sensitize tumors to radiation therapy.

TL;DR: Results show that tumor-associated endothelium is the principal target for Ad.Egr-TNF radiosensitization and implicate TNF-α signaling in tumor radiosensitivity.
Journal Article

TL;DR: Eighty patients with stage I and II carcinoma of the breast were treated with primary radiation therapy between July 1968 and December 1975 at the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy and the median followup time was 41 months.
Journal Article

Paradoxical Effect of Radiation on Tumor Incidence in the Rat: Implications for Radiation Therapy

TL;DR: The high incidence of leukemia in the Fischer rat is reduced by radiation to an incidence below that seen spontaneously, and fractionating the radiation decreased this effect, consistent with a hypothesis suggesting that tumor incidence due to radiation is the result of competing processes of tumor induction and cell killing.
