Solid Lipid Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery: Pharmacological and Biopharmaceutical Aspects
TL;DR: The currently active clinical trials on lipid nanoparticles were reviewed, with a brief discussion on what achievements or milestones are still to be reached, as a way of understanding the reasons for the scarce number of solid lipid nanoparticle undergoing clinical trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbamazepine-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles and nanostructured lipid carriers: Physicochemical characterization and in vitro/in vivo evaluation.
Sebastián Scioli Montoto,María Laura Sbaraglini,Alan Talevi,Manuel Couyoupetrou,M. Di Ianni,Guido Pesce,Vera Alejandra Alvarez,Luis E. Bruno-Blanch,Guillermo R. Castro,María Esperanza Ruiz,German Abel Islan +10 more
TL;DR: The developed CBZ-loaded lipid nanocarriers displayed optimal characteristics of size, shape and drug release and possibly represent a promising tool to improve the treatment of refractory epilepsy linked to efflux transporters upregulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid Ofloxacin/eugenol co-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles with enhanced and targetable antimicrobial properties
Boris Rodenak-Kladniew,Sebastián Scioli Montoto,María Laura Sbaraglini,M. Di Ianni,María Esperanza Ruiz,Alan Talevi,Vera Alejandra Alvarez,Nelson Durán,Guillermo R. Castro,German Abel Islan +9 more
TL;DR: It was proved that the administration of hybrid SLN to mice by dry powder inhalation reached therapeutic Ofx levels in lungs and the SLN exhibited an enhanced bactericidal activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.
Book ChapterDOI
Routes of Drug Administration
TL;DR: The design of the dosage forms requires a deep knowledge of the physiological and pathological factors that affect drug absorption for guarantying the therapeutic efficacy and to avoid possible drug-drug and drug-nutrient interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Current State and Future Perspectives in QSAR Models to Predict Blood- Brain Barrier Penetration in Central Nervous System Drug R&D
TL;DR: This review examines and discusses QSAR approaches and current availability of experimental data for the construction of BBB permeability predictive models, focusing on the modeling of the biorelevant parameter unbound partitioning coefficient (Kp,uu).
