Journal ArticleDOI
Anopheles gambiae distribution and insecticide resistance in the cities of Douala and Yaoundé (Cameroon): influence of urban agriculture and pollution
Christophe Antonio-Nkondjio,Billy Tene Fossog,Cyrille Ndo,Benjamin Menze Djantio,Serge Hubert Zébazé Togouet,Parfait Awono-Ambene,Carlo Costantini,Charles S. Wondji,Hilary Ranson +8 more
TL;DR: The data confirm high selection pressure on mosquitoes originating from urban areas and suggest urban agriculture rather than pollution as the major factor driving resistance to insecticide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Health gains from solar water disinfection (SODIS): evaluation of a water quality intervention in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Jürg Graf,Serge Hubert Zébazé Togouet,N. Kemka,D. Niyitegeka,Regula Meierhofer,Joseph Gangoue Pieboji +5 more
TL;DR: Multivariate analyses revealed that the intervention effects are also observed when other diarrhoea risk factors, such as hygiene and cleanliness of household surroundings, are considered, and suggest health benefits from SODIS use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eutrophication of lakes in urbanized areas: The case of Yaounde Municipal Lake in Cameroon, Central Africa
N. Kemka,Thomas Njiné,Serge Hubert Zébazé Togouet,Samuel Foto Menbohan,Moïse Nola,Adolphe Monkiedje,D. Niyitegeka,Pierre Compère +7 more
TL;DR: A 1 year qualitative and quantitative evaluation of phytoplankton and chlorophyll-a, as well as some physicochemical parameters, was recorded in a shallow tropical lake in Cameroon: the Yaounde Municipal Lake as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Survival and Growth of Vibrio cholerae, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella Spp. in Well Water Used for Drinking Purposes in Garoua (North Cameroon)
Moussa Djaouda,Bouba Gaké,Daniel Ebang Menye,Serge Hubert Zébazé Togouet,Moïse Nola,Thomas Njiné +5 more
TL;DR: Competition for nutrients and/or thermolabile antimicrobial substances synthesized by “ultramicrocells” or by the autochthonous bacteria retained by the filter might affect the bacterial survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sorption kinetics of Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp on two soil layers associated with a groundwater table in Yaounde, Cameroon (Central Africa).
Moïse Nola,Thomas Njiné,Claude Boutin,Pierre Servais,Mohamed Messouli,Louise Marie Ngo Bidjeck,Adolphe Monkiedje,Serge Hubert Zébazé Togouet,Norbert Kemka +8 more
TL;DR: The physico-chemical characteristics of soil particles seemed to influence the sorption kinetics of bacteria on soil, and seemed to positively correlate with the pH values and N/P ratios, and to negatively correlation with the values of C/N and C/P ratio.
