Journal ArticleDOI
Water-table and discharge changes associated with the 2016-2017 seismic sequence in central Italy: hydrogeological data and a conceptual model for fractured carbonate aquifers.
Marco Petitta,Marco Petitta,Lucia Mastrorillo,Elisabetta Preziosi,Francesca Banzato,Marino Domenico Barberio,Andrea Billi,Costanza Cambi,Gaetano De Luca,Giuseppe Di Carlo,Diego Di Curzio,Cristina Di Salvo,T. Nanni,Stefano Palpacelli,Sergio Rusi,Michele Saroli,Marco Tallini,Alberto Tazioli,Daniela Valigi,Paola Vivalda,Carlo Doglioni +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a seismic sequence in central Italy from August 2016 to January 2017 affected groundwater dynamics in fractured carbonate aquifers and the intensity of induced changes were correlated with seismic magnitude and distance to epicenters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term trend and fluctuations of karst spring discharge in a Mediterranean area (central-southern Italy)
Francesco Fiorillo,Marco Petitta,Elisabetta Preziosi,Sergio Rusi,Libera Esposito,Marco Tallini +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the discharge time series of some important karst springs in the region, evaluating the trends and fluctuations in relation to rainfall regime, on a yearly time scale, was analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of the 6 April 2009 L'Aquila earthquake on groundwater flow in the Gran Sasso carbonate aquifer, Central Italy
TL;DR: In this paper, a conceptual model of the L'Aquila earthquake's consequences on the Gran Sasso aquifer is proposed, and the short-term hydrologic effects registered immediately after the mainshock are determined to have been caused by a pore pressure increase related to aquifer deformation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human alteration of groundwater-surface water interactions (Sagittario River, Central Italy): Implication for flow regime, contaminant fate and invertebrate response
Mariachiara Caschetto,Maurizio Barbieri,Diana M. P. Galassi,Lucia Mastrorillo,Sergio Rusi,Fabio Stoch,Alessia Di Cioccio,Marco Petitta +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of anthropogenic changes on groundwater/surface water interactions were evaluated by analyzing the fate of nitrogenous pollutants at the floodplain scale and describing the overall response of invertebrate assemblages to such changes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Statistical and Fractal Approaches on Long Time-Series to Surface-Water/Groundwater Relationship Assessment: A Central Italy Alluvial Plain Case Study
Alessandro Chiaudani,Diego Di Curzio,William Palmucci,Antonio Pasculli,Maurizio Polemio,Sergio Rusi +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, univariate and bivariate statistical methods were applied to rainfall, river and piezometric level datasets belonging to 24-year time series (1986-2009), which often are used to understand the effects of precipitation on rivers and karstic springs discharge.
