TL;DR: Patients with severe COVID-19 and without ischemic infarcts had a wide range of neurologic manifestations that were be associated with abnormal brain MRIs, and eight distinctive neuroradiological patterns were described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neurologic and neuroimaging findings in patients with COVID-19: A retrospective multicenter study.
Stéphane Kremer,François Lersy,Mathieu Anheim,Hamid Merdji,Maleka Schenck,Hélène Oesterlé,Federico Bolognini,Julien Messie,Antoine Khalil,Augustin Gaudemer,Sophie Carré,Manel Alleg,Claire Lecocq,Emmanuelle Schmitt,R. TL;DR: COVID-19 patients may develop a wide range of neurological symptoms, which can be associated with severe and fatal complications, such as ischemic stroke or encephalitis, and the pathophysiology seems to involve an immune and/or inflammatory process given the presence of signs of inflammation in both cerebrospinal fluid and neuroimaging.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytokine release syndrome-associated encephalopathy in patients with COVID-19.
Peggy Perrin,Peggy Perrin,Nicolas Collongues,Seyyid Baloglu,Dimitri Bedo,Xavier Bassand,Thomas Lavaux,Gabriela Gautier-Vargas,Nicolas Keller,Stéphane Kremer,Samira Fafi-Kremer,Samira Fafi-Kremer,Bruno Moulin,Bruno Moulin,Ilies Benotmane,Sophie Caillard,Sophie Caillard +16 more
TL;DR: The aims of this study were to describe the neurological manifestations of patients with COVID‐19 and to gain pathophysiological insights with respect to CRS.
Posted ContentDOI
Cytokine Release Syndrome-Associated Encephalopathy in Patients with COVID-19
Peggy Perrin,Nicolas Collongues,Seyyid Baloglu,Dimitri Bedo,Xavier Bassand,Thomas Lavaux,Gabriela Gautier,Nicolas Keller,Stéphane Kremer,Samira Fafi-Kremer,B. Moulin,Ilies Benotmane,Sophie Caillard +12 more
TL;DR: Patients with COVID-19 can develop neurological manifestations that share clinical, laboratory, and imaging similarities with those of chimeric antigen receptor-T cell-related encephalopathy, and the pathophysiological underpinnings appear to involve CRS, endothelial activation, BBB dysfunction, and immune-mediated mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronavirus Disease 2019: Associated Multiple Organ Damage
Olivier Collange,Charles Tacquard,Xavier Delabranche,Ian Leonard-Lorant,Mickaël Ohana,Mihaela Onea,Mathieu Anheim,Morgane Solis,Arnaud Sauer,Seyyid Baloglu,Patrick Pessaux,Patrick Ohlmann,Charlotte Kaeuffer,Walid Oulehri,Stéphane Kremer,Paul-Michel Mertes +15 more
TL;DR: A better understanding of physiopathology should feed the discussion about therapeutic options in this type of multifocal damage related to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.
