Akt-Mediated Phosphorylation of Argonaute 2 Downregulates Cleavage and Upregulates Translational Repression of MicroRNA Targets

TL;DR: Akt3-mediated phosphorylated Argonaute 2 is a molecular switch between target mRNA cleavage and translational repression activities of Ago2, and Akt3 coimmunoprecipitates with Ago2 and phosphorylation of Ago1 facilitates its interaction with GW182 and localization to cytoplasmic processing bodies (P bodies), where miRNA-targeted mRNAs are thought to be stored and degraded.
Journal ArticleDOI

Histone demethylase PHF8 promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition and breast tumorigenesis.

TL;DR: The novel functions of PHF8 in EMT and breast cancer development are reported and its candidacy as a promising therapeutic target for this disease is conferred.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Is Critical For Angiotensin II–Mediated Hypertrophy in Cerebral Arterioles

TL;DR: Results suggest that Ang II–induced hypertrophy in cerebral arterioles involves EGFR-dependent signaling and may include Cav-1 and nonreceptor tyrosine kinase c-Src, and is independent of blood pressure.
