Deintensification Candidate Subgroups in Human Papillomavirus–Related Oropharyngeal Cancer According to Minimal Risk of Distant Metastasis
Brian O'Sullivan,Shao Hui Huang,Lillian L. Siu,John Waldron,Helen Zhao,Bayardo Perez-Ordonez,Ilan Weinreb,John Kim,Jolie Ringash,Andrew Bayley,Laura A. Dawson,Andrew Hope,John Cho,Jonathan C. Irish,Ralph W. Gilbert,Patrick J. Gullane,Angela Hui,Fei-Fei Liu,Eric Y.H. Chen,Wei Xu +19 more
TL;DR: HPV -positive T1-3N0-2c patients have a low DM risk, but N2b patients from this group have a reduced DC when treated with RT alone and seem less suited for deintensification strategies that omit chemotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and validation of a staging system for HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer by the International Collaboration on Oropharyngeal cancer Network for Staging (ICON-S): a multicentre cohort study
Brian O'Sullivan,Shao Hui Huang,Jie Su,Adam S. Garden,Erich M. Sturgis,Kristina R. Dahlstrom,Nancy Y. Lee,Nadeem Riaz,Xin Pei,Shlomo A. Koyfman,David J. Adelstein,Brian B. Burkey,Jeppe Friborg,Claus A. Kristensen,Anita Gothelf,Frank J. P. Hoebers,Bernd Kremer,Ernst-Jan M. Speel,Daniel W. Bowles,David Raben,Sana D. Karam,Eugene Yu,Wei Xu +22 more
TL;DR: Overall survival at 5 years between training and validation cohorts according to 7th edition TNM classifications and HPV status was similar, and AHR-New was selected as the proposed ICON-S stage classification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overview of the 8th Edition TNM Classification for Head and Neck Cancer
Shao Hui Huang,Brian O'Sullivan +1 more
TL;DR: The recently published 8th edition TNM classification institutes the following changes to the staging of head and neck: new stage classifications [HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer (HPV+ OPC) and soft tissue sarcoma of theHead and neck (HN-STS)] and modification of T and N categories.
Journal ArticleDOI
Refining American Joint Committee on Cancer/Union for International Cancer Control TNM Stage and Prognostic Groups for Human Papillomavirus–Related Oropharyngeal Carcinomas
Shao Hui Huang,Wei Xu,John Waldron,Lillian L. Siu,Xiaowei Shen,L. Tong,Jolie Ringash,Andrew Bayley,John Kim,Andrew Hope,John Cho,Meredith Giuliani,Aaron R. Hansen,Jonathan C. Irish,Ralph W. Gilbert,Patrick Gullane,Bayardo Perez-Ordonez,Ilan Weinreb,Fei-Fei Liu,Brian O'Sullivan +19 more
TL;DR: An RPA-based TNM stage grouping is proposed for HPV-related OPC as a result of significantly improved survival prediction compared with the seventh edition TNM, and prognostication is further improved by an RPA -based prognostic grouping within the American Joint Committee on Cancer/Union for International Cancer Control TNM framework.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictive value of tumor thickness for cervical lymph-node involvement in squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity: a meta-analysis of reported studies.
TL;DR: Tumor thickness appears to be a strong predictor for cervical lymph‐node involvement in squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity, but a precise clinically optimal TT cutoff point has not been established and a meta‐analysis is conducted.
