TL;DR: In this article, positive matrix factorization (PMF) was used to apportion sources of PM2.5, and eight sources were identified: biomass burning (11%), secondary sulfates (17%), secondary nitrates (14%), coal combustion (19%), industry (6%), motor vehicles (6), road dust (9%), and yellow dust.

TL;DR: Source apportionment of fine particulate matter in Beijing, China, was determined using two eigenvector models, principal component analysis/absolute principal component scores (PCA/APCS) and UNMIX and the results were comparable to previous estimate using the positive matrix factorization (PMF) and chemical mass balance (CMB) receptor models.

Estimation of vehicular emission inventories in China from 1980 to 2005

TL;DR: In this paper, multi-year inventories of vehicular emissions at a high spatial resolution of 40 km×40 km were established in China using the GIS methodology for the period 1980-2005, based on provincial statistical data from yearbooks regarding vehicles and roads, and on the emission factors for each vehicle category in each province calculated by COPERT III program.
