Journal ArticleDOI
The utility of a novel narrow band imaging endoscopy system in patients with Barrett's esophagus.
Prateek Sharma,Ajay Bansal,Sharad C. Mathur,Sachin Wani,Rachel Cherian,Douglas H. McGregor,April D. Higbee,Sandra Hall,Allan P. Weston +8 more
TL;DR: NBI is a novel diagnostic tool with a high degree of accuracy for the detection of metaplastic and dysplastic tissue within the BE segment and was unable to distinguish areas of IM from those with LGD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standard endoscopy with random biopsies versus narrow band imaging targeted biopsies in Barrett's oesophagus: a prospective, international, randomised controlled trial
Prateek Sharma,Robert H. Hawes,Ajay Bansal,Ajay Bansal,Neil Gupta,Neil Gupta,Wouter L. Curvers,Amit Rastogi,Amit Rastogi,Mandeep Singh,Mandeep Singh,Matthew Hall,Sharad C. Mathur,Sharad C. Mathur,Sachin Wani,Sachin Wani,Brenda J. Hoffman,Srinivas Gaddam,Paul Fockens,Jacques J. Bergman +19 more
TL;DR: Regular appearing NBI surface patterns did not harbour high-grade dysplasia/cancer, suggesting that biopsies could be avoided in these areas, and high-definition white light examinations with NBI can have the same IM detection rate as an HD-WLE examination with the Seattle protocol while requiring fewerBiopsies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk Factors for Progression of Low-Grade Dysplasia in Patients With Barrett's Esophagus
Sachin Wani,Gary W. Falk,Jane Post,Lisa Yerian,Matthew Hall,Amy Wang,Neil Gupta,Srinivas Gaddam,Mandeep Singh,Vikas Singh,Keng-Yu Chuang,Vikram Boolchand,Hemanth Gavini,John Kuczynski,Priti Sud,Ajay Bansal,Amit Rastogi,Sharad C. Mathur,Patrick E. Young,Brooks D. Cash,John R. Goldblum,David A. Lieberman,Richard E. Sampliner,Prateek Sharma +23 more
TL;DR: Overall, patients with BE and LGD have a low annual incidence of EAC, similar to nondysplastic BE, and there is significant interobserver variation in diagnosis, even among expert pathologists.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patients with nondysplastic Barrett's esophagus have low risks for developing dysplasia or esophageal adenocarcinoma
Sachin Wani,Gary W. Falk,Matthew Hall,Srinivas Gaddam,Amy Wang,Neil Gupta,Mandeep Singh,Vikas Singh,Keng-Yu Chuang,Vikram Boolchand,Hemanth Gavini,John Kuczynski,Priti Sud,Savio C. Reddymasu,Ajay Bansal,Amit Rastogi,Sharad C. Mathur,Patrick E. Young,Brooks D. Cash,David A. Lieberman,Richard E. Sampliner,Prateek Sharma +21 more
TL;DR: There is a lower incidence of dysplasia and EAC among patients with NDBE than previously reported and the length of the BE was associated significantly with progression, especially for patients with shorter segments of BE.
Journal ArticleDOI
A feasibility trial of narrow band imaging endoscopy in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Prateek Sharma,Sachin Wani,Ajay Bansal,Sandra Hall,Srinivas R. Puli,Sharad C. Mathur,Amit Rastogi +6 more
TL;DR: NBI endoscopy may represent a significant improvement over standard endoscope for the diagnosis of GERD, and these preliminary findings including inter- and intraobserver agreement need to be evaluated in future prospective, controlled, and blinded GERD trials.
