Results of Treatment With Hyper-CVAD, a Dose-Intensive Regimen, in Adult Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia
Hagop M Kantarjian,Susan O'Brien,Terry L. Smith,Jorge E. Cortes,Francis Giles,Miloslav Beran,Sherry Pierce,Yang O. Huh,Michael Andreeff,Charles A. Koller,Chul S. Ha,Michael J. Keating,Sharon B. Murphy,Emil J. Freireich +13 more
TL;DR: Hyper-CVAD therapy is superior to previous regimens and should be compared with established regimens in adult ALL, and a smaller percentage had more than 5% day 14 blasts and better survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Secondary acute myeloid leukemia in children treated for acute lymphoid leukemia.
Ching-Hon Pui,Frederick G. Behm,Susana C. Raimondi,Richard K. Dodge,Stephen L. George,Gaston K. Rivera,Joseph Mirro,David K. Kalwinsky,Gary V. Dahl,Sharon B. Murphy,William M. Crist,Dorothy L. Williams +11 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that there is a substantial risk of AML in patients who receive intensive treatment for ALL, especially in those with a T-cell immunophenotype, and that 11q23 chromosomal abnormalities may be important in the pathogenesis of this complication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved outcome in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia with reinforced early treatment and rotational combination chemotherapy
Gaston K. Rivera,Gaston K. Rivera,C H Pui,C H Pui,M Abromowitch,M Abromowitch,J. Mirro,J. Mirro,J.S. Ochs,J.S. Ochs,A T Look,A T Look,Sharon B. Murphy,Sharon B. Murphy,Gary V. Dahl,Gary V. Williams,Dorothy L. Williams,Michael L. Hancock,Michael L. Hancock,William E. Evans,William E. Evans,Larry E. Kun,Larry E. Kun +33 more
TL;DR: Outcome within risk groups was not significantly affected by the speed of rotation of drug pairs during continuation treatment, and various high-risk subgroups had apparently improved responses to this treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amy P. Abernethy,Lynn Etheredge,Patricia A. Ganz,Paul K. Wallace,Robert R. German,Chalapathy Neti,Peter B. Bach,Sharon B. Murphy +7 more
TL;DR: The activities of the National Cancer Policy Forum workshop are reviewed, which examined the elements of a rapid-learning system for cancer, including registries and databases, emerging information technology, patient-centered and -driven clinical decision support, patient engagement, culture change, clinical practice guidelines, and federal policy issues and implications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intensive high-dose asparaginase consolidation improves survival for pediatric patients with T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and advanced stage lymphoblastic lymphoma: a Pediatric Oncology Group study.
Michael D. Amylon,J J Shuster,Jeanette Pullen,Costan W. Berard,Michael P. Link,Moody D. Wharam,J A Katz,Alice L. Yu,Joseph Laver,Yaddanapudi Ravindranath,Joanne Kurtzberg,S Desai,Bruce M. Camitta,Sharon B. Murphy +13 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that when added to a backbone of effective rotating agents, repeated doses of asparaginase during early treatment improve the outcome for patients with T cell leukemia and advanced stage lymphoblastic lymphoma.
