Journal ArticleDOI
The NLRP1 inflammasome attenuates colitis and colitis-associated tumorigenesis.
Tere M. Williams,Rachel A. Leeth,Daniel E. Rothschild,Sheryl Coutermarsh-Ott,Dylan K. McDaniel,Alysha Simmons,Bettina Heid,Thomas E. Cecere,Irving C. Allen +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the role of Nucleotide-binding domain and leucine-rich repeat (NLR) proteins in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colitis associated tumorigenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-frequency irreversible electroporation is an effective tumor ablation strategy that induces immunologic cell death and promotes systemic anti-tumor immunity
Veronica M. Ringel-Scaia,Veronica M. Ringel-Scaia,Natalie Beitel-White,Melvin F. Lorenzo,Melvin F. Lorenzo,Rebecca M. Brock,Rebecca M. Brock,Kathleen E. Huie,Sheryl Coutermarsh-Ott,Kristin Eden,Kristin Eden,Dylan K. McDaniel,Scott S. Verbridge,Scott S. Verbridge,John H. Rossmeisl,John H. Rossmeisl,Kenneth J. Oestreich,Rafael V. Davalos,Irving C. Allen +18 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that the level of tumor ablation correlates with increased activation of cellular immunity, and shows that the decrease in metastatic lesions is dependent on the intact immune system and H-FIRE generates 4T1 neoantigens that engage the adaptive immune system to significantly attenuate tumor progression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nanoscale Bacteria‐Enabled Autonomous Drug Delivery System (NanoBEADS) Enhances Intratumoral Transport of Nanomedicine
SeungBeum Suh,Ami Jo,Mahama A. Traore,Ying Zhan,Sheryl Coutermarsh-Ott,Veronica M. Ringel-Scaia,Irving C. Allen,Richey M. Davis,Bahareh Behkam +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that NanoBEADS enhance nanoparticle retention and distribution in solid tumors by up to a remarkable 100‐fold without requiring any externally applied driving force or control input.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beyond the inflammasome: regulatory NOD-like receptor modulation of the host immune response following virus exposure.
TL;DR: Targeting NLR signalling following infection with a virus represents a novel and promising therapeutic strategy, however, significant effort is still required to translate the current understanding of NLR biology into effective therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Caspase-11 Attenuates Gastrointestinal Inflammation and Experimental Colitis Pathogenesis
Tere M. Williams,Rachel A. Leeth,Daniel E. Rothschild,Dylan K. McDaniel,Sheryl Coutermarsh-Ott,Alysha Simmons,Kye H. Kable,Bettina Heid,Irving C. Allen +8 more
TL;DR: Caspase-11 is identified as a critical factor protecting the host during acute DSS-induced colonic injury and inflammation but not during chronic inflammation and tumorigenesis.
