Journal ArticleDOI
Sex steroids induced up-regulation of 1,25-(OH)2 vitamin D3 receptors in T 47D breast cancer cells
TL;DR: The data strongly suggest, for the first time, an up-regulation of VDR by DHT and E2 via an ER-mediated mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Architectural remodelling in lungs of rabbits induced by type V collagen immunization: a preliminary morphologic model to study diffuse connective tissue diseases
Walcy Rosolia Teodoro,Ana Paula Pereira Velosa,Samira S. Witzel,A. L. Garippo,Cecília Farhat,Edwin R. Parra,Shigueko Sonohara,Vera Luiza Capelozzi,Natalino Hajime Yoshinari +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the model reproduces morphologic changes similar to those observed in many DCTD, encouraging realization of other experiments to gain a better understanding of the pathogenesis of these diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of micronuclei formation and nuclear anomalies in regenerative nodules of human cirrhotic livers and relationship to hepatocellular carcinoma.
Terezinha Morato Bastos de Almeida,Regina C Leitão,Joyce Anderson Duffles Andrade,Willy Beçak,Flair José Carrilho,Shigueko Sonohara +5 more
TL;DR: The spontaneous frequency of micronucleated hepatocytes in both regenerative and macroregenerative nodules of all cirrhotic patients was significantly higher than for the normal control group, and a higher frequency of the nuclear anomalies termed broken-eggs was observed in hepatitis C virus-related samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Androgens on Proliferation and Progesterone Receptor Levels in T47D Human Breast Cancer Cells
TL;DR: A significant enhancement of growth and progesterone receptor expression was observed after treatment with E2 and DHEA, which was antagonized by the antiestrogen tamoxifen and not altered by theAntiandrogen flutamide, supporting the involvement of estrogen receptors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of collagen messenger RNA
L. Wang,Carla Simões,Shigueko Sonohara,Maria Mitzi Brentani,Heitor Franco de Andrade,S. M.F. Da Silva,J. M. Salles,Nelson Marques,Ricardo R. Brentani +8 more
TL;DR: The incorporation of 3H-proline was markedly dependent upon rabbit reticulocyte initiation factors and inhibited by initiation inhibitors such as aurintricaboxilate and pyrocatechol violet.
