Journal ArticleDOI

Review on building energy performance improvement using phase change materials

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of phase change materials used to optimize building envelope and equipment is provided, and the existing gaps in the research works on energy performance improvement with phase change material are identified, and recommendations offered as authors' viewpoints in 5 aspects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Review on improvement for air source heat pump units during frosting and defrosting

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive and systematic review around an entire frosting-defrosting cycle might provide an overview of the analytical tools for scholars, researchers, product developers, and policy makers, and shed new light on the designing and performance optimization of ASHP units.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study on the thermal comfort in sleeping environments in the subtropics : Developing a thermal comfort model for sleeping environments

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical study on a thermal comfort model in sleeping environments was performed by introducing appropriate modifications to Fanger's comfort model, which can be used for determining thermally neutral environmental conditions under a given bedding system.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study of energy performance of hotel buildings in Hong Kong

TL;DR: In this article, an average Energy Use Index (EUI) based on unit floor area has been derived for hotel buildings in Hong Kong using energy consumption data for 1995, and the breakdown of energy use showed that electricity dominated total energy consumption and that, on average, about one-third of total energy was used for air conditioning.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study on the performance of the airside heat exchanger under frosting in an air source heat pump water heater/chiller unit

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a distributed mathematical model of the airside heat exchanger under frosting in an air source heat pump water heater/chiller (ASHPWHC) unit and evaluated the impacts of frosting on the operational performance of an ASHPWHC unit.
