Effect of ultrasonication energy on engineering properties of carbon nanotube reinforced cement pastes

TL;DR: In this paper, the engineering properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were investigated with varied ultrasonication energy (UE) and CNT concentration, and it was found that UE could effectively improve the aqueous dispersion of surface functionalized CNTs with the aid of a polycarboxylate-based cement admixture.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Graphene Oxide On Early-age Hydration And Electrical Resistivity Of Portland Cement Paste

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of graphene oxide (GO) on the early-age hydration process and mechanical properties of Portland cement paste were experimentally investigated in a study based on an isothermal calorimeter measurement, the hydration rate of cement was observed to increase with the increase of GO content by nucleation effect.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation on dispersion of graphene oxide in cement composite using different surfactant treatments

TL;DR: In this paper, the dispersion of GO in water, alkali and several ionic species is investigated with the aid of UV-vis spectroscopy, showing that the amount of 0.03% GO by weight of cement can increase the flexural strength of GO-cement composite up to 67%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon nanotube–cement composites: A retrospect

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive review of recent research studies in developing carbon nanotube-OPC composites is presented, highlighting the considerable efforts been made in the study of fabrication, hydration, porosity and transport properties of the carbon-nanotube composites.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of ultrasonication on the dispersion and enhancing effect of graphene oxide–carbon nanotube hybrid nanoreinforcement in cementitious composite

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of ultrasonication on the dispersion and size of the GO/CNT particles by using an ultraviolet spectrophotometer and Zetasizer μV detector was analyzed.
