Perovskite oxide for solid oxide fuel cells

We report on n-channel organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) based on the novel n-type organic semiconductor, perfluoropentacene. The transistor exhibits excellent electrical characteristics, with a high electron mobility of 0.22 cm2/(V s) and a good current on/off ratio of 105. The electron mobility is comparable to the hole mobility of a pentacene OTFT. By combining the n-type perfluoropentacene and the p-type pentacene, we have fabricated ambipolar OTFTs and complementary inverter circuits. The OTFTs with heterostructures of the p- and n-type organic semiconductors can operate as an ambipolar device with high electron and hole mobilities of 0.042 and 0.041 cm2/(V s). The complementary inverter using an n-channel perfluoropentacene OTFT and a p-channel pentacene OTFT exhibits excellent transfer characteristics with a voltage gain of 45. A complementary inverter using the ambipolar OTFTs is also demonstrated.

Organic thin-film transistors with high electron mobility based on perfluoropentacene

Abundant molecules enable countless combinations of device architecture that might achieve the desirable high efficiency from organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) Due to the relatively high cost of OLED materials and facilities, simulation approaches have become a must in further advancing the field faster and saver We have demonstrated here the use of state-of-art simulation approaches to investigate the effect of molecular orbital energy levels on the recombination of excitons in OLED devices The devices studied are composed of 1,1-bis[(di-4-tolylamino)phenyl]cyclohexane (TAPC) as hole transporting material (HTM), 4,4′-Bis(9-carbazolyl)-1,1′-biphenyl (CBP) as host, 2,2',2”-(1,3,5-benzinetriyl)-tris(1-phenyl-1-H-benzimidazole) (TPBi) or bathophenanthroline (Bphen) as electron transporting materials The outcomes reveal that exciton recombination highly sensitive to the energy-level alignment, injection barriers, and charge mobilities A low energy-barrier ( 106 times greater than that in the TPBi based device The high carrier mobility of Bphen whose electron mobility is 52 × 10−4 cm2 V−1 s−1 may lead to low charge accumulation and hence high exciton dynamics The current study has successfully projected an in-depth analysis on the suitable energy-level alignments, which would further help to streamline future endeavours in developing efficient organic compounds and designing devices with superior performance

Role of Molecular Orbital Energy Levels in OLED Performance

In the present time, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) is a very promising participant over light-emitting diodes (LEDs), liquid crystal display (LCD), and also another solid-state lighting device due to its low cost, ease of fabrication, brightness, speed, wide viewing angle, low power consumption, and high contrast ratio. The most prominent layer of OLED is the emissive layer because the device emission color, contrast ratio, and external efficiency depend of this layer’s materials. This review ruminates on the basics of OLEDs, different light emission mechanisms, OLEDs achievements, and different types of challenges revealed in the field of OLEDs. This review’s primary intention is to broadly discuss the synthesizing methods, physicochemical properties of conducting polymer polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and its polymeric nanocomposite-based emissive layer materials for OLEDs application. It also discusses the most extensively used OLED fabrication techniques. PMMA-based polymeric nanocomposites revealed good transparency properties, good thermal stability, and high electrical conductivity, making suitable materials as an emissive layer for OLED applications.

Recent advances in efficient emissive materials-based OLED applications: a review

This paper explores how different layers in an organic light emitting diode (OLED) impacts its performance. Here, different layers of OLED similar to hole/electron injection layer, transport layer, and block layers are analyzed. Four experimental devices are taken into consideration and their results are compared to one over another to analyze the impact of every layer. Inside depth analysis is also performed on the device to inspect what really is happening Innermost of the OLED. It is noticed that hole and electron block layer are instrumental in improving the device luminescence performance and efficiency. There is an improvement of 16, 37 and 38% in the luminescence of the device when hole block layers and electron block layers are added. Internal device analysis reveals that increase in charge carrier concentration and carrier confinement are the reason for this improvement.

Impact of different layers on performance of OLED

This research study investigates electrical performance of the multilayered organic light-emitting diode (OLED) with a focus on the role of charge injection, transport and emission layers. Device parameters; luminescence and current density are extracted using Silvaco ATLAS numerical device simulator and validated through the fabricated experimental results with a minor deviation of 3%. Furthermore, a mathematical model is applied to extract other device parameters such as electric field, charge carrier mobility, concentration and current density. Additionally, the multilayered device architecture is critically analysed through cut line methodology to better comprehend the internal device physics in terms of hole-electron mobility, concentration and their recombination. Subsequently, the performance parameters extracted using analytical model are compared with the results of internal analysis and a close match is observed. These results prove the Poole-Frenkel mobility-dependent behaviour in the OLEDs that varies following electric field. Analyses also highlight high electron and hole concentrations in the vicinity of the emission layer as a reason of high luminescence in the multilayered OLED, directly following the Langevin's theory of recombination in organic semiconductors. These analyses highlight the impact of different layers in the OLEDs and thus open up new horizons to further performance improvement in these devices.

Analytical modelling and parameters extraction of multilayered OLED

Organic electronics and specifically organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices based on organic semiconductor materials enable economically viable large-area flexible applications. This review presents a comprehensive and detailed assessment of different aspects related to OLEDs, focusing on the impact of multilayered architectures on device performance, in particular the impact of different layers and architectures to enhance the output from such devices. Furthermore, characteristic parameters, materials, and fabrication methodologies are reviewed in depth to highlight the major advancements related to OLEDs over the years. Mathematical models are important for predicting the internal operation and characteristics of such devices, thus these are also discussed, focusing on methods to improve the performance parameters of OLEDs. Applications of OLEDs are also discussed, with a primary focus on research related to their improvement and enhancement for use in displays, sensors, and visual light communications. Although OLEDs show great promise for a bright future, several challenges such as the development of blue light-emitting materials, lifetime improvement, and application-specific architectures must be addressed to achieve more dynamic devices for emerging commercial applications.
