Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in colonic mucosal permeability in mouse colitis induced with dextran sulfate sodium.

TL;DR: An increase in colonic mucosal permeability, leading to the destruction of mucosal barrier function, may play an important role in the induction of DSS-induced murine colitis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rabbit models for the study of human atherosclerosis: from pathophysiological mechanisms to translational medicine.

TL;DR: The features of rabbit lipoprotein metabolism and pathology of atherosclerotic lesions that make it the optimal model for human atherosclerosis disease, especially for the translational medicine are focused on.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dextran Sodium Sulfate-Induced Colitis in Germ-Free IQI/Jic Mice

TL;DR: The data suggest that intestinal microflora are not necessary for the induction of colitis, and DSS may be highly toxic to GF mice, and when given at a concentration of 5% it causes massive bleeding into the intestinal lumen resulting in death prior to development ofcolitis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Histological analysis of murine colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium of different molecular weights.

TL;DR: The molecular weight of DSS is suggested to be an important factor in the murine model of colitis in a DSS-induced mouse model of human ulcerative colitis.
