The climate signal in the stable isotopes of snow from Summit, Greenland: Results of comparisons with modern climate observations
James W. C. White,L. K. Barlow,David A. Fisher,Pieter Meiert Grootes,Jean Jouzel,Sigfus J Johnsen,Minze Stuiver,H. B. Clausen +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the isotope composition of snow in Greenland with meteorological and climatic parameters has been linked with the past few hundred years measured in ice cores using a new record of isotope values from the Greenland Ice Sheet Project 2 and Greenland Ice Core Project sites at Summit, Greenland.
Journal ArticleDOI
Continuous monitoring of summer surface water vapor isotopic composition above the Greenland Ice Sheet
Hans Christian Steen-Larsen,Hans Christian Steen-Larsen,Sigfus J Johnsen,Valérie Masson-Delmotte,Barbara Stenni,Camille Risi,Harald Sodemann,David Balslev-Clausen,Thomas Blunier,Dorthe Dahl-Jensen,M. D. Ellehoj,S. Falourd,Aslak Grindsted,Vasileios Gkinis,Jean Jouzel,Trevor Popp,Simon G. Sheldon,Sebastian B. Simonsen,Jesper Sjolte,Jesper Sjolte,Jørgen Peder Steffensen,Peter Sperlich,Árný E. Sveinbjörnsdóttir,Bo Møllesøe Vinther,James W. C. White +24 more
TL;DR: In this paper, surface water vapor isotopic measurements were conducted from June to August 2010 at the NEEM (North Greenland Eemian Drilling Project) camp, NW Greenland (77.45 N, 51.05 W, 2484 m a.s.).
Journal ArticleDOI
Ice core evidence for a very tight link between North Atlantic and east Asian glacial climate
Urs Ruth,Matthias Bigler,Matthias Bigler,Regine Röthlisberger,Regine Röthlisberger,Marie-Louise Siggaard-Andersen,Sepp Kipfstuhl,Kumiko Goto-Azuma,Margareta Hansson,Sigfus J Johnsen,Huayu Lu,Jørgen Peder Steffensen +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found that during Dansgaard-Oeschger events North Atlantic region temperature and east Asian storminess were tightly coupled and changed synchronously within 5-10 years with no systematic lead or lag, thus providing instantaneous climatic feedback.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climatic signals in multiple highly resolved stable isotope records from Greenland
Bo Møllesøe Vinther,Philip Jones,Keith R. Briffa,Henrik Clausen,Katrine Krogh Andersen,Dorthe Dahl-Jensen,Sigfus J Johnsen +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a linear correlation between the first principal component of the winter season stable isotope data and Greenland winter temperatures was found to be 0.71 for seasonally resolved data and 0.83 for decadally filtered data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coupled response of the late glacial climatic shifts of northwest Europe reflected in Greenland ice cores: Evidence from the northern North Sea
TL;DR: A high-resolution record from the Norwegian Channel off western Norway covering the past 15 ka (14 C) shows that prior to the Younger Dryas, there were three periods of sea-surface conditions there similar to those of the present, interspersed with arctic conditions as mentioned in this paper.
