Journal ArticleDOI
Mesenchymal stromal cells from human umbilical cord prevent the development of lung fibrosis in immunocompetent mice.
Gianluca Moroncini,Chiara Paolini,Fiorenza Orlando,Chiara Capelli,A. Grieco,C. Tonnini,Silvia Agarbati,Eleonora Mondini,Stefania Saccomanno,Gaia Goteri,Silvia Baroni,Mauro Provinciali,Martino Introna,Nicoletta Del Papa,Armando Gabrielli +14 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that hUC-MSC possess strong in vivo anti-fibrotic activity in a mouse model resembling an immunocompetent human subject affected by inflammatory ILD, providing proof of concept for ad-hoc clinical trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Inflamma-miRs as Potential Biomarkers of Cognitive Impairment in Patients Affected by Alzheimer's Disease.
Angelica Giuliani,Simona Gaetani,Giulia Sorgentoni,Silvia Agarbati,Maristella Laggetta,Giulia Matacchione,Mirko Gobbi,T. Rossi,Roberta Galeazzi,Gina Piccinini,Giuseppe Pelliccioni,Anna Rita Bonfigli,Antonio Domenico Procopio,Maria Cristina Albertini,Jacopo Sabbatinelli,Fabiola Olivieri,Francesca Fazioli +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, a subset of miRNAs modulating the inflammatory process, namely inflamma-miRNAs, was analyzed in plasma samples from 116 patients with Alzheimer's disease compared with 41 age-matched healthy control (HC) subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
PDGF/PDGFR: A Possible Molecular Target in Scleroderma Fibrosis
Chiara Paolini,Silvia Agarbati,Devis Benfaremo,Matteo Mozzicafreddo,Silvia Svegliati,Gianluca Moroncini +5 more
TL;DR: This review focused on the PDGF/PDGFR pathway as key signaling molecules in the development of tissue fibrosis and highlighted the possible role of stimulatory anti- PDGFRα autoantibodies in the pathogenesis of SSc.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic Relevance of Macrophage Phenotypes in High-grade Oral Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinomas
Silvia Agarbati,Marco Mascitti,Eleonora Paolucci,Lucrezia Togni,Andrea Santarelli,Corrado Rubini,Francesca Fazioli +6 more
TL;DR: The distribution of M1 and M2 macrophages in relation to the pathologic grade in OTSCC is evaluated, for the first time, highlighting the prognostic relevance of analyzing the localization of TAMs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induction of Mouse Lung Injury by Endotracheal Injection of Bleomycin.
Fiorenza Orlando,Chiara Paolini,Silvia Agarbati,C. Tonnini,A. Grieco,Chiara Capelli,Martino Introna,Mauro Provinciali,Armando Gabrielli,Gianluca Moroncini +9 more
TL;DR: This protocol has been successfully applied for the preclinical testing of hUC-MSC in an experimental mouse model of human pulmonary fibrosis and can be easily extended both to study the effect of different endotracheally administered substances on the pathophysiology of the lungs and to validate new anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic systemic therapies.
