Journal ArticleDOI

Subset-Row Inequalities Applied to the Vehicle-Routing Problem with Time Windows

TL;DR: The results show that applying subset-row inequalities in the master problem significantly improves the lower bound and, in many cases, makes it possible to prove optimality in the root node.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Branch-and-Cut Algorithm for the Symmetric Two-Echelon Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem

TL;DR: An exact method for solving the symmetric two-echelon capacitated vehicle routing problem, a transportation problem concerned with the distribution of goods from a depot to a set of customers through aSet of satellite locations, based on an edge flow model that is a relaxation and provides a valid lower bound.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liner Shipping Cargo Allocation with Repositioning of Empty Containers

TL;DR: The proposed algorithm is able to solve instances with 234 ports, 16,278 demands over 9 time periods in 34 min, and the integer solutions found by rounding down are computed in less than 5 s and the gap is within 0.01% from the upper bound of the linear relaxation.
Journal ArticleDOI

A hybrid adaptive large neighborhood search heuristic for lot-sizing with setup times

TL;DR: The hybrid heuristic framework is applied to the multi-item capacitated lot sizing problem with setup times and outperforms the best heuristics from the literature, and the upper bounds found by the commercial MIP solver ILOG CPLEX using state-of-the-art MIP formulations.

Cutting Planes for Branch-and-Price Algorithms

TL;DR: A general framework for formulating cutting planes in the context of column generation for integer programs is presented and it is shown that it is possible to model inequalities defined on the master problem variables by adding new variables and constraints to the subproblem formulation.
