Theoretical prediction and experimental study of a ferromagnetic shape memory alloy: Ga2MnNi

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors predict the existence of a ferromagnetic shape memory alloy using density-functional theory and show that the martensitic transition is volume conserving that is indicative of shape memory behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural and electronic properties of Ni 2 Mn Ga

TL;DR: In this article, the equilibrium structure and electronic properties of a ferromagnetic shape memory alloy have been studied for both the martensitic and austenitic phases by the full potential linearized augmented plane wave method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Martensitic transition, ferrimagnetism and Fermi surface nesting in Mn2NiGa

TL;DR: In this paper, the electronic structure of Mn2NiGa has been studied using density functional theory and photo-emission spectroscopy, and the calculated valence band spectrum, the optimized lattice constants and the magnetic moments are in good agreement with experiment.
