Leoligin-inspired synthetic lignans with selectivity for cell-type and bioactivity relevant for cardiovascular disease
Thomas Linder,Rongxia Liu,Atanas G. Atanasov,Yuanfang Li,Sophie Geyrhofer,Stefan Schwaiger,Hermann Stuppner,Michael Schnürch,Verena M. Dirsch,Marko D. Mihovilovic +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a modular and stereoselective approach for the synthesis of the edelweiss-derived lignan leoligin was developed and used the synthetic route to rapidly prepare leligin analogs even on the gram scale.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design and Synthesis of a Compound Library Exploiting 5-Methoxyleoligin as Potential Cholesterol Efflux Promoter.
Thomas Linder,Sophie Geyrhofer,Eleni Papaplioura,Limei Wang,Atanas G. Atanasov,Hermann Stuppner,Verena M. Dirsch,Michael Schnürch,Marko D. Mihovilovic +8 more
TL;DR: A modular and stereoselective total synthesis of 5-methoxyleoligin is developed which can be readily used to prepare a novel compound library of related analogs and it was found that variation on the aryl moiety in 2-position of the furan ring allows optimization of the activity profile, whereas the ester-functionality does not tolerate significant alterations.
Chasing "Zampanalogs": Advancing the Synthesis of the Zampanolide Macrocycle
TL;DR: A new method for a modular and convergent total synthesis of optically pure zampanolide was investigated, which would also allow the generation of “zampanalogs” following the same basic strategy, and modified fragments that were originally intended to serve as model systems were synthesized, which could also be used as building blocks in the synthesis of various analogs.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of extracellular serotonin and MDMA in the sensitizing effects of MDMA
R. A. C. Van De Wetering,Jan Vorster,Sophie Geyrhofer,Joanne E. Harvey,Robert A. Keyzers,Susan Schenk +5 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors show that repeated exposure to MDMA sensitized both the locomotor activating and reinforcing effects of MDMA in rats, and that these effects were not due to changes in MDMA-produced synaptic overflow of serotonin in the medial striatum or absorption/elimination of systemically administered MDMA.
