Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetic self-assembly of three-dimensional surfaces from planar sheets

TL;DR: This report describes the spontaneous folding of flat elastomeric sheets, patterned with magnetic dipoles, into free-standing, 3D objects that are the topological equivalents of spherical shells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adaptive nudged elastic band approach for transition state calculation

TL;DR: The algorithm is a variation of the well-established nudged elastic band method and leads to significant improvements in efficiency and accuracy and is applied to tautomerization processes in nucleic acid bases and the double proton transfer inucleic acid base pairs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of flexibility on hydrophobic behavior of nanotube water channels.

TL;DR: It is shown that increasing the flexibility of the carbon nanotubes increases their apparent hydrophobic character, while on the other hand the presence of water inside the channel makes them more resistant to radial collapse, and that flexibility impedes water transport across the nanotube channel by increasing the free-energy barriers to such motion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical investigation of glassy dynamics in low-density systems.

TL;DR: This work investigates the behavior of screened charged particles, and explicitly demonstrates that these systems exhibit glassy properties in the regime of low temperature and low density.
