Analysis of drivers for solving facility layout problems: A Literature review

Entrepreneurship education has become an important and fast-growing research area contributing to understanding and acknowledging global and national trends and developing future educational policies and actions. From the country’s perspective, the development of entrepreneurship education in Indonesia is relatively recent. This circumstance is reflected by the minimal amount of research in English language articles published in prominent journals, the uneven provision programs, and the lack of modern practices in teaching and learning entrepreneurship in higher education across the country. Due to those rationales, this study aims to serve as an initial proposition by mapping some current states concerning Indonesian entrepreneurship education programs’ provision, its common learning practices within the higher education context, and its relation to students’ entrepreneurial competencies, characteristics, and Indonesian entrepreneurs’ issues on entrepreneurship education. By using mapping literature methodology, this study has identified and analyzed 31 articles concerning Indonesian entrepreneurship in higher education, searched through electronic database and international and national universities publications for the last ten-year period (2010–2019). The results showed that major entrepreneurship education program provisions and implementation of contemporary entrepreneurship course contents and teaching methods in Indonesia are centralized in Java Island—Indonesia. Another notable finding is mentoring, the most recent and emerging entrepreneurial type in Indonesia to support more students’ learning engagement and independence, or education through entrepreneurship. The study’s findings could inform the Indonesian government, educators, researchers, and educational policymakers concerning the current circumstances of Indonesian entrepreneurship education and how to improve them in the future.

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah brand X masih memiliki permasalahan pada jenis dan frekuensi cacat yang cukup banyak pada produk gamis yang menyebabkan penurunan kualitas, dan profit perusahaan. Pengendalian kualitas yang diterapkan oleh Brand X saat ini adalah melakukan inpeksi 100% kemudian melakukan perbaikan ulang produk atau me-reject produk cacat tanpa mengetahui penyebab-penyebab terjadinya kecacatan produk dalam proses produksi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan metode Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) dan Failure Mode And Effect Analysis (FMEA). Kedua metode tersebut merupakan teknik analisis yang sering digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi suatu risiko kegagalan pengendalian kualitas. FMEA digunakan untuk menganalisis suatu risiko kegagalan, sedangkan FTA digunakan untuk menganalisa kemungkinan sumber-sumber risiko sebelum timbulnya kerugian. Setelah dilakukan penelitian menggunakan metode FTA, didapatkan akar-akar penyebab terjadinya kegagalan dalam proses penjahitan yang menyebabkan cacat jahitan, cacat kotor dan cacat bekas lubang jarum muncul, yaitu disebabkan mesin jahit kotor, jarum mudah patah, benang mudah putus, kain kotor, kain yang dipadu-padankan memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda, mesin jahit rusak dan jarum tumpul. Kemudian dilakukan analisis menggunakan FMEA dan diperoleh nilai Risk Priority Number (RPN) tertinggi yaitu 324 dengan moda kegagalan kain yang dipadu-padankan memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda, sedangkan moda kegagalan lain hanya memperoleh nilai RPN dibawah 50. Usulan perbaikan untuk nilai RPN tertinggi adalah dengan membuat produk sampel terlebih dahulu untuk melihat hasil jahitan kain yang dipadu-padankan, jika hasilnya layak, barulah di produksi massal.

The background of this study is the type and frequency of defect robes produced by Brand X which result in decreasing quality and company profit. The quality control conducted by Brand X includes 100% inspection proceeded by product repair or rejection without analyzing the factors contributing to the production of defect articles in the manufacturing process. This research is a descriptive study using the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method and Failure Mode And Effect Analysis (FMEA). Both methods are analytical techniques often used in identifying quality control failure risk. FMEA is used to analyze risk of failure, while FTA is used to analyze possible sources of risk before loss occurs.After conducting research using the FTA method, the main causes of failure in the sewing process which result in suture defects, dirt defects and pinhole defects are dirty sewing machines, fragile needles, breakable threads, dirty fabric, mismatch of fabrics with different qualities, faulty sewing machines and blunt needles. After analysis using FMEA, it has been found that the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) is 324 attributed to the mismatch of fabrics of differing qualities while other failure modes are valued below 50. The proposed improvement for the highest RPN value is to make sample products first to asses fabric combination before approving mass production.

Penerapan metode fault tree analysis dan failure mode and effect analysis untuk meningkatkan kualitas produk busana muslim (studi kasus di brand x)

The problem that occurs in the packaging bottle production process is the amount of waste in it. Therefore, this study aims to make improvements in reducing waste of production time and provide recommendations for managing the production process so that in the future can be used as a reference in the production process optimization. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis conducted by examining the work and activities of an object. The results of the study show that in the production process, there was still a form of waste which, when viewed from the seven waste concept in the lean manufacturing system, there are some of the most dominant wastes such as inventory, waiting, process, overproduction, and defect. After improvement of the current mapping, the waste that occurs such as inventory, process, overproduction, waiting, and defects that occur in the production line reduced from the total lead time of 2.1 days with seven operators to 0.9 days with ten operators. Furthermore, the cycle time value of the current value stream mapping was 120.9 seconds, while the cycle time value of the proposed value stream mapping was 72 seconds. This shows an increase in productivity.

Minimasi Waste dengan Pendekatan Value Stream Mapping

Meminimalkan pemborosan dalam proses produksi adalah salah satu tujuan dari suatu perusahaan. Lean adalah metode yang dapat meminimalkan pemborosan dalam proses produksi. Dalam penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan untuk meminimalkan limbah di PT. Bonindo Abadi adalah Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT) dan Value Stream Mapping (VSM). VSM digunakan untuk melihat kondisi peta keadaan pada perusahaan. Pengurangan pemborosan dilakukan dengan menggunakan salah satu alat dari VALSAT yaitu Process Activity Mapping (PAM). Jumlah non value added (NVA) yang ditemukan dalam proses produksi PT. X adalah 90,17% diikuti oleh necessary but non value added (NNVA) dengan jumlah 9,79% dan value added (VA) sebesar 0,04%. Usulan perbaikan yang diberikan adalah dengan mengurangi jumlah waktu aktivitas NVA atau menghilangkannya.

Optimasi Lini Produksi dengan Value Stream Mapping dan Value Stream Analysis Tools

Working posture can affect the comfort and productivity of labor in doing manual work. In this study, RULA method is used to determine the risk level of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) injury in the production process at PT. Indana Paint (consists of mixing and packaging steps for water-based paint, solvent-based paint, and base paint production), and then given proposed improvements to reduce the risk level. Method used in this research is direct observation and video recording of every work element to determine some awkward postures that will be assessed using RULA method. Thirty awkward postures are found, there are 7 working posture (23.3%) have low risk level, 11 working posture (36.7%) have medium risk level, and 12 working posture (40%) have high risk level. Proposed improvements given is to brief the workers on appropriate lifting technique and working methods, adding mechanical aids for handling drums, and working position height adjustment.

The small and medium-sized food industry (SMFI) has a great opportunity to meet domestic market demand during the Covid-19 pandemic but there are various obstacles. This paper aims to present the constraints faced by SMFIs, especially concerning raw materials and marketing, in taking advantage of domestic market opportunities, and proposes alternative solutions. The study was conducted on four SMFIs that produce functional food in Malang Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews. The results showed that the demand for functional foods such as garlic, ginger, turmeric and fruits increased during the Covid-19 pandemic, which seemed to be related to public awareness about increasing immunity. However, the obstacles faced by SMFIs were the high price of raw materials due to limited supply, and limited marketing because they did not have distribution licenses from BPOM. Information about the process and BPOM’s distribution permit requirements was very limited for SMFI managers, and large capital was needed to fulfill the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices. Therefore, SMFIs should have long-term cooperation with farmers to ensure the availability of raw materials; build networks and maintain cooperation with customers; and utilize credit for MSMEs in the economic recovery program provided by the government to meet the GMP requirements in BPOM’s distribution permit. The government should conduct intensive outreach to SMFI managers about the process and requirements for distribution permits from BPOM, credit facilities, and other policies related to economic recovery during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Constraints of Small and Medium Food Industry to Take Advantage of Domestic Market Opportunities during the Covid-19 Pandemic

To boost the entrepreneurial culture in Indonesia, higher education institutions are encouraged to facilitate entrepreneurship in the curricula. In the last two decades, more and more universities in Indonesia adopt entrepreneurship education in their curriculum. The problem now is whether the entrepreneurship subjects at each university have been able to equip students with the ability to build and manage their own business, as well as to trigger students to create a business and not looking for a job after graduation. This study elaborates and evaluates entrepreneurial learning models that are applied at the University in Indonesia (case: Universitas Ma Chung). The evaluation result reveals that the entrepreneurship learning model which consist of six modules (1)"Developing Entrepreneurship Mindset", (2)"Idea Generation", (3)"Business Function", (4)"Legal Plan", (5)"Business Plan Preparation", and (6)"Business Growth" is deemed to be effective in inspiring and preparing students at Universitas Ma Chung to be entrepreneurs.

Evaluating Entrepreneurship Education Model in Indonesian University

The accident occurred in industry is one of the causes of work disruption or cessation. Work accident should be avoided because of causing risk for company. PT “X” is a tobacco company which has a high level of work accident. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a particular effort in order to prevent and reduce the accident. Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis (HIRA) is the method aims to identify any risk types included in the work operation. Where as Standardized Plant Analysis Risk Human Reliability Assessment (SPAR-H) is the method aims to find out the possibility of human error occurrence in the work operations. Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that the accident occurred in PT. “X” is caused by environmental condition and insecure workers’ action, and inappropriateness with HSE procedures. PT “X” should enroll some corrective actions so the accident can be reduced. In this study, PT “X” should create improvement through administrative action and the use of safety equipment.
