Journal ArticleDOI
Organic and inorganic antibacterial approaches in combating bacterial infection for biomedical application
Syafiqah Saidin,Mohamad Amin Jumat,Nur Ain Atiqah Mohd Amin,Abdullah Sharaf Saleh Al-Hammadi +3 more
TL;DR: Most common used inorganic and organic antibacterial agents which have potential to be utilized in biomedical applications are provided, thus, classifying the trends of antibacterial mechanism on Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of different implant-abutment connections on micromotion and stress distribution: prediction of microgap formation
TL;DR: Non-cylindrical abutments provided a stable locking mechanism that reduced micromotion, and therefore reduced the occurrence of microgaps, but stress tends to concentrate at the vertices of abutment, which could lead to microfractures and subsequent microgap formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polydopamine as an intermediate layer for silver and hydroxyapatite immobilisation on metallic biomaterials surface.
Syafiqah Saidin,Pascale Chevallier,Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir,Hendra Hermawan,Diego Mantovani +4 more
TL;DR: Characterisation techniques showed that Ag nanoparticles and HA agglomerations were successfully immobilised on the polydopamine film through an element reduction process, which is crucial to prevent bacterial infection during the first stage of implant restoration.
Journal ArticleDOI
A review of Acalypha indica L. (Euphorbiaceae) as traditional medicinal plant and its therapeutic potential
Nor Syahiran Zahidin,Syafiqah Saidin,Razauden Mohamed Zulkifli,Ida Idayu Muhamad,Harisun Yaakob,Hadi Nur,Hadi Nur +6 more
TL;DR: This review summarizes the current studies on ethnomedicinal practices, phytochemistry, pharmacological studies and a potential study of Acalypha indica in different locations around the world to provide a useful and basic knowledge platform for anyone interested in gaining information about this plant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immobilization of antibacterial chlorhexidine on stainless steel using crosslinking polydopamine film: Towards infection resistant medical devices
Nurizzati Mohd Daud,Ihda Fithriyana Saeful Bahri,Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek,Hendra Hermawan,Syafiqah Saidin +4 more
TL;DR: A strong beneficial effect of the crosslinked PDA film in immobilizing CHX on bio-inert metal, and these materials are applicable in medical devices.
