Journal ArticleDOI

Postnatal development of electrical activity in the locus ceruleus.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the electrical activity of LC neurons in the developing brain is intimately related to input from peripheral sensory sources, and the influence of the LC on the developingbrain may occur predominantly through sensory input.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of alpha1-adrenoceptor-mediated collateral excitation in the regulation of the electrical activity of locus coeruleus neurons

TL;DR: The results indicate that the electrical activity of locus coeruleus neurons, particularly in the developing brain, is regulated by a positive feedback mechanism mediated by alpha 1 -adrenoceptors located on the somadendritic membranes of the neurons, and that these two mechanisms operate in an activity-dependent fashion.
