Data Mining - Concepts and Techniques.

According to W. Edwards Deming, American companies require nothing less than a transformation of management style and of governmental relations with industry. In Out of the Crisis, originally published in 1982, Deming offers a theory of management based on his famous 14 Points for Management. Management's failure to plan for the future, he claims, brings about loss of market, which brings about loss of jobs. Management must be judged not only by the quarterly dividend, but by innovative plans to stay in business, protect investment, ensure future dividends, and provide more jobs through improved product and service. In simple, direct language, he explains the principles of management transformation and how to apply them.

Among the various traditional approaches of pattern recognition the statistical approach has been most intensively studied and used in practice. More recently, the addition of artificial neural network techniques theory have been receiving significant attention. The design of a recognition system requires careful attention to the following issues: definition of pattern classes, sensing environment, pattern representation, feature extraction and selection, cluster analysis, classifier design and learning, selection of training and test samples, and performance evaluation. In spite of almost 50 years of research and development in this field, the general problem of recognizing complex patterns with arbitrary orientation, location, and scale remains unsolved. New and emerging applications, such as data mining, web searching, retrieval of multimedia data, face recognition, and cursive handwriting recognition, require robust and efficient pattern recognition techniques. The objective of this review paper is to summarize and compare some of the well-known methods used in various stages of a pattern recognition system using ANN and identify research topics and applications which are at the forefront of this exciting and challenging field.

Use of Artificial Neural Network in Pattern Recognition

A smart home or building is a home or building, usually a new one that is equipped with special structured wiring to enable occupants to remotely control or program an array of automated home electronic devices by entering a single command. Conventional security systems keep homeowners, and their property, safe from intruders. A smart home security system, however, offers many more benefits. Home automation technology notifies homeowners of any problems, so that they can investigate. In this paper, we discuss smart home and security, we also review the tool related to smart home security.

Applications, Systems and Methods in Smart Home Technology: A Review

This paper presents a method for optimizing software testing efficiency by identifying the most critical path clusters in a program We do this by developing variable length Genetic Algorithms that optimize and select the software path clusters which are weighted in accordance with the criticality of the path Exhaustive software testing is rarely possible because it becomes intractable for even medium sized software Typically only parts of a program can be tested, but these parts are not necessarily the most error prone Therefore, we are developing a more selective approach to testing by focusing on those parts that are most critical so that these paths can be tested first By identifying the most critical paths, the testing efficiency can be increased
