Journal ArticleDOI
Association of MicroRNA Expression in Hepatocellular Carcinomas with Hepatitis Infection, Cirrhosis, and Patient Survival
Jinmai Jiang,Yuriy Gusev,Yuriy Gusev,Ileana Aderca,Teresa A. Mettler,David M. Nagorney,Daniel J. Brackett,Daniel J. Brackett,Lewis R. Roberts,Thomas D. Schmittgen +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a global increase in the transcription of miRNA genes occurs in cirrhotic and hepatitis-positive livers and that miRNA expression may prognosticate disease outcome in HCC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cirrhosis is Present in Most Patients with Hepatitis B and Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Ju Dong Yang,W. Ray Kim,Ritika Coelho,Teresa A. Mettler,Joanne T. Benson,Schuyler O. Sanderson,Terry M. Therneau,Bohyun Kim,Lewis R. Roberts +8 more
TL;DR: Most patients with HCC and chronic viral hepatitis had evidence of cirrhosis, including those with HBV infection and those without active viral replication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Utility of serum immunoglobulin G4 in distinguishing immunoglobulin G4‐associated cholangitis from cholangiocarcinoma
Abdul M. Oseini,Roongruedee Chaiteerakij,Abdirashid M. Shire,Amaar Ghazale,Joseph Kaiya,Catherine D. Moser,Ileana Aderca,Teresa A. Mettler,Terry M. Therneau,Lizhi Zhang,Naoki Takahashi,Suresh T. Chari,Lewis R. Roberts +12 more
TL;DR: Although elevated sIgG4 levels are characteristic of IAC, some patients with CCA, including a small percentage with a more than a 2‐fold increase in sIGG4, do not exclude the diagnosis of CCA and the use of a 2-fold cutoff may not reliably distinguish IAC from CCA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Continuation of metformin use after a diagnosis of cirrhosis significantly improves survival of patients with diabetes
Xiaodan Zhang,William S. Harmsen,Teresa A. Mettler,W. Ray Kim,Rosebud O. Roberts,Terry M. Therneau,Lewis R. Roberts,Roongruedee Chaiteerakij +7 more
TL;DR: Continuation of metformin after Cirrhosis diagnosis reduced the risk of death by 57%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy and Safety of Transarterial Radioembolization Versus Chemoembolization in Patients With Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Laura E. Moreno-Luna,Ju Dong Yang,William Sanchez,Ricardo Paz-Fumagalli,Denise M. Harnois,Teresa A. Mettler,Denise N. Gansen,Piet C. de Groen,Konstantinos N. Lazaridis,K. V. Narayanan Menon,Nicholas F. LaRusso,Steven R. Alberts,Gregory J. Gores,Chad J. Fleming,Seth W. Slettedahl,William S. Harmsen,Terry M. Therneau,Gregory A. Wiseman,James C. Andrews,Lewis R. Roberts +19 more
TL;DR: Treatment with TARE required less hospitalization than treatment with TACE, and there was no significant difference in efficacy between TARE and TACE.
