Journal ArticleDOI

The Effect of Alagebrium Chloride (ALT-711), a Novel Glucose Cross-Link Breaker, in the Treatment of Elderly Patients With Diastolic Heart Failure

TL;DR: Sixteen weeks of treatment with the glucose crosslink breaker, alagebrium, resulted in a decrease in left ventricular mass and improvements inleft ventricular diastolic filling and quality of life in patient with DHF.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nkx2-5 mutation causes anatomic hypoplasia of the cardiac conduction system

TL;DR: It is shown in KO mice that the number of cells in the cardiac conduction system is directly related to Nkx2-5 gene dosage, and it is surprising that the cellular expression of connexin40, the major gap junction isoform of Purkinje fibers and a putative Nk x 2-5 target, is unaffected.
Journal ArticleDOI

Positional specification of ventricular myosin light chain 2 expression in the primitive murine heart tube

TL;DR: Evidence is provided for early positional specification of MLC-2v gene expression in the primitive heart tube and indicates regional specification of part of the ventricular muscle gene program can precede ventricular septation during mammalian cardiogenesis.
