Plasma chemistry model of surface microdischarge in humid air and dynamics of reactive neutral species

TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical model of a surface microdischarge (SMD) in humid air at atmospheric pressure is presented, which includes over 50 species and 600 elementary reactions and consists of two coupled well-mixed regions: a discharge layer with both charged and neutral species and an afterglow region consisting only of neutral species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cold atmospheric air plasma sterilization against spores and other microorganisms of clinical interest.

TL;DR: Physical cold atmospheric surface microdischarge (SMD) plasma operating in ambient air has promising properties for the sterilization of sensitive medical devices where conventional methods are not applicable and could revolutionize the field of disinfection at health care facilities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma medicine: possible applications in dermatology.

TL;DR: Current research mainly focuses on application of non‐thermal plasmas in plasma medicine, with a focus on cauterization and sterilization of medical instruments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) changes gene expression of key molecules of the wound healing machinery and improves wound healing in vitro and in vivo

TL;DR: In vitro human and in vivo animal data suggest that the 2 min treatment with the MicroPlaSter ß® is an effective technique for activating wound healing relevant molecules in dermal fibroblasts leading to improved wound healing, whereas the mechanisms which contribute to these observed effects have to be further investigated.
