QuantTB - A method to classify mixed Mycobacterium tuberculosis infections within whole genome sequencing data

TL;DR: QuantTB can determine infection multiplicity, identify hetero-resistance patterns, enable differentiation between relapse and re-infection, and clarify transmission events across seemingly unrelated patients – even in low-coverage (1x) samples.

Laboratory evolution of aSaccharomyces cerevisiaexS. eubayanushybrid under simulated lager-brewing conditions: genetic diversity and phenotypic convergence

TL;DR: This study indicates that fast acquisition of extensive aneuploidy is not required for genetic adaptation of S. cerevisiae x S. eubayanus hybrids to brewing environments and demonstrates that, consistent with the diversity of brewing strains for maltotriose utilization, domestication under brewing conditions can result in loss of this industrially relevant trait.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ten simple rules for starting a regional student group.

TL;DR: Ten simple rules for how to start a regional student group are provided in the hope that others will start up similar groups around the world.
Journal ArticleDOI
