Klein,Arturo Casadevall,Aaron A.R. Tobian,Daniel F. Hanley +57 more
TL;DR: In participants with Covid-19, most of whom were unvaccinated, the administration of convalescent plasma within 9 days after the onset of symptoms reduced the risk of disease progression leading to hospitalization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heterogeneous expression of PD-L1 in pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma: Implications for assessment by small biopsy
Thomas J. Gniadek,Qing Kay Li,Ellen Tully,Samit Chatterjee,Sridhar Nimmagadda,Edward Gabrielson,Edward Gabrielson +6 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that many cases of lung cancer could be inaccurately or variably scored for PD-L1 expression with a single biopsy sample, particularly when a threshold for the percentage of positive cells is used to determine eligibility for checkpoint blockade therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
The golgin tether giantin regulates the secretory pathway by controlling stack organization within Golgi apparatus.
TL;DR: It is shown that siRNA-mediated depletion of giantin resulted in more dispersed Golgi stacks after nocodazole treatment than by control treatment, without changing the average cisternal length, suggesting that the spatial organization of the Golgi ribbon is mediated by giantin, which also plays a role in cargo transport and sugar modifications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Convalescent plasma with a high level of virus-specific antibody effectively neutralizes SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern
Maggie Li,Evan J. Beck,Oliver Laeyendecker,Yolanda Eby,Aaron A.R. Tobian,Patrizio Caturegli,C. J. Wouters,Gregory R. Chiklis,William Block,Robert O McKie,Michael J. Joyner,Tim Wiltshire,Allan B. Heath,Adam C. Levine,James H. Paxton,Shweta Anjan,Jonathan M. Gerber,Kelly A. Gebo,Arturo Casadevall,Andrew Pekosz,David Sullivan +33 more
TL;DR: High-titer CCP neutralizes SARS-CoV-2 variants despite no previous donor exposure to the variants, and antibody levels in the upper 10% as well as 100% of the post-delta COVID-19/post-vaccination units and the hyperimmunoglobulin effectively neutralized all three variants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical Practice Guidelines From the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB): COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma
Lise J Estcourt,Claudia S. Cohn,Monica B. Pagano,Claire Iannizzi,Nina Kreuzberger,Nicole Skoetz,Elizabeth S. Allen,Evan M. Bloch,Greg Beaudoin,Arturo Casadevall,Dana V. Devine,Farid Foroutan,Thomas J. Gniadek,Ruchika Goel,Jed B. Gorlin,Brenda J. Grossman,Michael J. Joyner,Ryan A. Metcalf,Jay S. Raval,Todd W. Rice,Beth H. Shaz,Ralph R. Vassallo,Jeffrey L. Winters,Aaron A.R. Tobian +23 more
TL;DR: The evidence and rationale for recommendations for inpatient and outpatient treatment and prophylaxis of COVID-19 convalescent plasma are described.
