Journal ArticleDOI

Persistent and Transient Replication of Full-Length Hepatitis C Virus Genomes in Cell Culture

TL;DR: It is suggested that Huh-7 cells lack host cell factors that are important for virus particle assembly and/or release, and selectable full-length HCV genomes that amplify to high levels in the human hepatoma cell line Huh- 7 are generated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of Cell Lines Carrying Self-Replicating Hepatitis C Virus RNAs

TL;DR: High levels of HCV RNAs were preserved in cells passaged under continuous selection, and depending on culture conditions the RNAs persisted for more than 10 months, suggesting that cellular factors required for RNA replication and/or translation vary in abundance and become limiting in resting cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interferon-α inhibits hepatitis C virus subgenomic RNA replication by an MxA-independent pathway

TL;DR: It is shown here that IFN-α inhibits subgenomic HCV RNA replication in HuH-7 human hepatoma cells in a dose-dependent manner and whether MxA plays a role in the inhibition of HCV is investigated.
