CNS late-effects after ALL therapy in childhood. Part III: neuropsychological performance in long-term survivors of childhood ALL: impairments of concentration, attention, and memory.
Thorsten Langer,Peter Martus,Holger Ottensmeier,Holger Hertzberg,Jörn D. Beck,Walburga Meier +5 more
TL;DR: The neuropsychological function is defined and which central nervous system functions are impaired following the German ALL-BFM and COALL protocols for CNS-negative patients are described to support the strategy of avoiding prophylactic CNS irradiation in low risk patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Germline genetic variations in methotrexate candidate genes are associated with pharmacokinetics, toxicity and outcome in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Susanne Radtke,Oliver Zolk,Bertold Renner,Marios Paulides,Martin Zimmermann,Anja Möricke,Martin Stanulla,Martin Schrappe,Thorsten Langer +8 more
TL;DR: The pharmacogenetics of methotrexate (MTX) was investigated in a large cohort of pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and genetic variations substantially influence the kinetics and response to high-dose MTX therapy in childhood ALL.
Journal ArticleDOI
CNS late effects after ALL therapy in childhood. Part I: Neuroradiological findings in long-term survivors of childhood ALL—an evaluation of the interferences between morphology and neuropsychological performance
Holger Hertzberg,Walter J. Huk,Michael A. Ueberall,Thorsten Langer,Walburga Meier,Roland Dopfer,Martin Skalej,Herwig Lackner,Udo Bode,G Janssen,Felix Zintl,Jörn D. Beck +11 more
TL;DR: Children treated with cranial irradiation in combination with SMHDMTX and/or ITMTX were at greater risk of developing morphological brain alterations than patients with chemotherapy alone and seem to stay with a longer posttherapeutic interval.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ifosfamide-induced nephrotoxicity in 593 sarcoma patients: a report from the Late Effects Surveillance System.
Wolfgang Stöhr,Marios Paulides,Stefan S. Bielack,Heribert Jürgens,Jörn Treuner,Rainer Rossi,Thorsten Langer,Jörn-Dirk Beck +7 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence and risk factors of tubulopathy, with special emphasis on the influence of age, where different findings have been published so far.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nephrotoxicity of cisplatin and carboplatin in sarcoma patients: a report from the late effects surveillance system.
Wolfgang Stöhr,Marios Paulides,Stefan S. Bielack,Heribert Jürgens,Ewa Koscielniak,Rainer Rossi,Thorsten Langer,Jörn-Dirk Beck +7 more
TL;DR: Cisplatin and carboplatin are both nephrotoxic and can induce, to a different degree, impairment in glomerular function and hypomagnesemia.
