Maternal Influenza Vaccination and Effect on Influenza Virus Infection in Young Infants
Angelia A. Eick,Angelia A. Eick,Timothy M. Uyeki,Timothy M. Uyeki,Alexander Klimov,Alexander Klimov,Henrietta Hall,Henrietta Hall,Raymond Reid,Mathuram Santosham,Katherine L. O'Brien +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that maternal influenza vaccination increased influenza antibody titers in infants through 2 to 3 months of age, reducing their risk of both influenza virus infection and ILI hospitalization during the first 6 months of life.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laboratory-based respiratory virus surveillance pilot project on select cruise ships in Alaska, 2013-15.
Kimberly B Rogers,Shahrokh Roohi,Timothy M. Uyeki,David Montgomery,Jayme Parker,Nisha H Fowler,Xiyan Xu,Deandra J Ingram,Donna Fearey,Steve M Williams,Grant A. Tarling,Clive Brown,Nicole J. Cohen +12 more
TL;DR: The high yield of positive results indicated that influenza was common among passengers and crews sampled with ARI, which reinforces the need to bolster influenza prevention and control activities on cruise ships.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resource-poor settings: response, recovery, and research: care of the critically ill and injured during pandemics and disasters: CHEST consensus statement.
James Geiling,James Geiling,Frederick M. Burkle,Frederick M. Burkle,T. Eoin West,Timothy M. Uyeki,Dennis E. Amundson,Dennis E. Amundson,Guillermo Domínguez-Cherit,Charles D. Gomersall,Matthew L. Lim,Valerie A. Luyckx,Babak Sarani,Michael D. Christian,Asha V. Devereaux,Jeffrey R. Dichter,Niranjan Kissoon +16 more
TL;DR: The Resource-poor Settings panel developed five key question domains; defining the term resource poor and using the traditional phases of the disaster cycle (mitigation/preparedness/response/recovery) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
A population-based estimate of the economic burden of influenza in Peru, 2009-2010.
Yeny Tinoco,Eduardo Azziz-Baumgartner,Hugo Razuri,Matthew R. Kasper,Candice Romero,Ernesto J. Ortiz,Jorge Gomez,Marc-Alain Widdowson,Timothy M. Uyeki,Robert H. Gilman,Daniel G. Bausch,Joel M. Montgomery +11 more
TL;DR: The cost of influenza in Peru was studied to assess the potential value of interventions and to estimate the burden and impact of influenza disease burden and economic impact data.
Journal ArticleDOI
The East Jakarta Project: surveillance for highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) and seasonal influenza viruses in patients seeking care for respiratory disease, Jakarta, Indonesia, October 2011-September 2012.
Aaron D. Storms,R. Kusriastuti,S. Misriyah,Catharina Y. Praptiningsih,M. Amalya,Kathryn E. Lafond,Gina Samaan,R. Triada,Angela D. Iuliano,M. Ester,R. Sidjabat,K. Chittenden,R. Vogel,Marc-Alain Widdowson,Frank Mahoney,Timothy M. Uyeki +15 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that seasonal influenza prevention efforts, including influenza vaccination, should target the months preceding the rainy season, as seasonal influenza was an important contributor to acute respiratory disease in East Jakarta.
