Journal ArticleDOI

A unique iron-sulfur cluster is crucial for oxygen tolerance of a [NiFe]-hydrogenase

TL;DR: The data indicate that the mechanism of O(2) tolerance relies on the reductive removal of oxygenic species guided by the unique architecture of the electron relay rather than a restricted access of O (2) to the active site.
Journal ArticleDOI

H2 Conversion in the Presence of O2 as Performed by the Membrane-Bound [NiFe]-Hydrogenase of Ralstonia eutropha

TL;DR: The genetic, biochemical, electrochemical, and spectroscopic properties related to the O(2) tolerance of hydrogenases resident in the facultative chemolithoautotroph Ralstonia eutropha H16 are summarized and a focus is given to the membrane-bound [NiFe]-hydogenase, which currently represents the best-characterized member of O( 2)-tolerant hydrogenases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insights into organohalide respiration and the versatile catabolism of Sulfurospirillum multivorans gained from comparative genomics and physiological studies

TL;DR: The complete genome sequence of S. multivorans revealed a gene region encoding proteins required for organohalide respiration and corrinoid cofactor biosynthesis, which might be the basis of the bacterium's catabolic flexibility.
Journal ArticleDOI

Global ocean resistome revealed: Exploring antibiotic resistance gene abundance and distribution in TARA Oceans samples.

TL;DR: The diversity and abundance of ARGs in the global ocean metagenome is uncovers, revealing the presence of 15 ARGs similar to mobilized colistin resistance genes (mcr) with high abundance on polar biomes.
