A new mixture model (EOS-LNG) for the accurate representation of thermodynamic property data of multicomponent natural gas mixtures in the liquid state is presented. The mathematical approach of the GERG-2008 equation of state of Kunz and Wagner is adopted and new binary-specific functions for methane + n-butane, methane + isobutane, methane + n-pentane, and methane + isopentane are developed. The representation of all experimental data available in the literature for the corresponding binary systems is carefully analyzed so that these functions can also be applied at fluid states beyond the liquefied natural gas (LNG) region. The EOS-LNG represents all available binary and multicomponent data in the LNG region within their specified experimental uncertainty, which is significantly more accurate than the GERG-2008 model. The main focus was given to the representation of new density data measured between 100 K and 180 K with a maximum pressure of 10 MPa. Deviations from the EOS-LNG presented here do not exceed 0.02% for binary data and 0.05% for multicomponent systems. EOS-LNG: A Fundamental Equation of State for the Calculation of Thermodynamic Properties of Liquefied Natural Gases

Based on the conceptual design reports for the Future Circular Collider cryogenic system, the need for more accurate thermodynamic property models of cryogenic mixtures of noble gases was identified. Both academic institutes and industries have identified the lack of a reliable equation of state for mixtures used at very low temperatures. Detailed cryogenic architecture modeling and design cannot be carried out without accurate fluid properties. Therefore, the helium–neon equation was the first goal of this work, and it was further extended to other fluids beneficial for scientific and industrial applications beyond the particle physics needs. The properties of the noble gas mixtures of helium–neon, neon–argon, and helium–argon are accurately modeled with the equations of state explicit in the Helmholtz energy.

Thermodynamics of the carbon dioxide plus nitrogen plus methane (Co2 + N2 + Ch4) system: Measurements of vapor-liquid equilibrium data at temperatures from 223 to 298 K and verification of EOS-CG-2019 equation of state

Abstract The CO 2 Mix project is established in order to fill important knowledge gaps regarding thermophysical properties of CO 2 -rich mixtures relevant for CCS conditioning and transport. Even small amounts of impurities can have a large effect on these properties and hence on the design of process equipment and flow assurance calculations. Hence, accurate models backed up by experimental data of high quality are required for efficient and safe design and operation of CCS infrastructure and equipment. In the CO 2 Mix project, SINTEF Energy Research, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Ruhr-Universitat Bochum (RUB) will perform accurate measurements of phase equilibria, density, and speed of sound. In this paper, the need for measurement of thermo-physical properties will be discussed, and the experimental setups will be described.
