Journal ArticleDOI
Right ventricular failure in patients with the HeartMate II continuous-flow left ventricular assist device: Incidence, risk factors, and effect on outcomes
Robert L. Kormos,Jeffrey J. Teuteberg,Francis D. Pagani,Stuart D. Russell,Ranjit John,Leslie W. Miller,Todd Massey,Carmelo A. Milano,Nader Moazami,Kartik S. Sundareswaran,David J. Farrar +10 more
TL;DR: The incidence of right ventricular failure in patients with a HeartMate II ventricular assist device is comparable or less than that of patients with pulsatile-flow devices and might benefit from preoperative optimization of right heart function or planned biventricular support.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive review and suggested strategies for the detection and management of aortic insufficiency in patients with a continuous-flow left ventricular assist device.
Jennifer A Cowger,Vivek Rao,Todd Massey,Benjamin Sun,Karen May-Newman,Ulrich P. Jorde,Jerry D. Estep +6 more
TL;DR: From the Department of Cardiology, St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Indianapolis, Indiana; Division of Cardiac Surgery, Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Department of Surgery, University of Rochester, Rochester, New York; and the department of cardiology, Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Racial variations in the choice of on-pump versus off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting
Dana B. Mukamel,Laurent G. Glance,David L. Weimer,Thomas A. Pearson,Todd Massey,Jeffery Gold,Sheldon Greenfield,James E. Jackson,Alvin I. Mushlin +8 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that surgeons who are inexperienced with the off-pump techniques are more likely to perform this surgery on Black patients, and the agenda addressing racial disparities should be expanded.
Journal ArticleDOI
203: Right Ventricular Failure (RVF) in Patients with Continuous Flow Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD)
Robert L. Kormos,J.J. Teuteberg,Stuart D. Russell,Todd Massey,David S. Feldman,Nader Moazami,David J. Farrar,Carmelo A. Milano +7 more
TL;DR: Right Ventricular Failure (RVF) in Patients with Continuous Flow Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD)
Journal Article
Modification of a biventricular assist device to facilitate preservative infusion and organ recovery in a nonheart-beating donor.
Ron Angona,Peter L. Abt,Duraid Younan,Todd Massey,Michael R. Marvin,Randeep Kashyap,Dan Richards,Karen Jones,James Queschenbach,Martin S. Zand,Ashok Jain,Mark S. Orloff,Adel Bozorgzadeh +12 more
TL;DR: Although the recipient outcome was poor, and retransplantation was eventually necessary, it is believed it was most likely not attributable to the quality of organ preservation, and the technical aspects of this potentially beneficial procedure are discussed.
