Antibacterial constituents from the berries of Piper nigrum.

TL;DR: A bioguided extraction and fractionation of the petroleum ether extract of the berries of P. nigrum afforded compounds that were active against Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus sphaericus, and Staphylococcus aureus amongst Gram + ve bacteria, and Klebsiella aerogenes and Chromobacterium violaceum among Gram -ve bacterial strains.

A new method of synthesis and antibacterial activity evaluation of piper amides.

TL;DR: The piper amides were tested against both gram +ve and gram −ve bacterial strains and found that they are particularly more active against Staphylococcus aureus and Chromobacterium violaceum strains.
