Journal ArticleDOI

Antimicrobial constituents from the rhizomes of Rheum emodi.

TL;DR: The bioassay-guided chemical examination of the rhizomes of R. emodi resulted in the isolation of two new oxanthrone esters and a new anthraquinone ether revandchinone-4, establishing new structures based on spectroscopic and degradative evidence.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibacterial constituents from the berries of Piper nigrum.

TL;DR: A bioguided extraction and fractionation of the petroleum ether extract of the berries of P. nigrum afforded compounds that were active against Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus sphaericus, and Staphylococcus aureus amongst Gram + ve bacteria, and Klebsiella aerogenes and Chromobacterium violaceum among Gram -ve bacterial strains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microwave assisted synthesis and αντιmicrobial activity of 2,2-dimethyl chromenes

TL;DR: In this article, 2,2-dimethyl chromenes (lb-9b) and corresponding propargyl ethers (la-9a) were prepared under microwave conditions in high yields and anti microbial activity of compounds (6b and 7b) was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new method of synthesis and antibacterial activity evaluation of piper amides.

TL;DR: The piper amides were tested against both gram +ve and gram −ve bacterial strains and found that they are particularly more active against Staphylococcus aureus and Chromobacterium violaceum strains.
Journal ArticleDOI

A rapid identification system for metallothionein proteins using expert system

TL;DR: A computer program (ID3 algorithm, a part of Artificial Intelligence) developed using available data for the rapid identification ofMetallothioneins is described, which proposes to categorize MT proteins without aromatic amino acids and high metal content.
